If you like simulation/base building/automation games and want every spare second of your time to be sucked into a void, Factorio is waiting for you. It even has a demo on Steam, though I only had to watch the trailer to know it was for me. Also DOOM - might be the best FPS of all time. Enjoy the new rig.

Darkness was tough to start with when I was going through with the same tactics as any other run. But when I realised I should slow down and chillout a bit, not boost all the time, not try and jump as high as possible (otherwise you hit the ceiling) and grind on everything, I got through it ok and it created a real moment of elation when I did complete it.

I'm cool with it as it adds some more variety and challenge.

Anyone ever shop at CEX?

Do you find their stores to be stinking rat pits, staffed by seemingly un-managed children too?

Yes and yes!

I'll be sad to see Game go. I get 90% of my purchases there and apart from the odd game which comes out between £40- £45 I find most are at the usual £39.99, I've always found HMV to be more expensive. The staff are all pretty cool in my local one too, I'll usually have a chat with them about the latest releases and they talk to me as a fellow gamer and not a sales person.

Im always using there trade in too, I trade most games in within a few weeks of buying so that the value is still high and then have the credit put on a gift card so I can use it for the next release I actually want rather than having to get something then and there (or within 1 month at CEX). So really I rarely spend over 15 or 20 quid on a game this way and I like that!

Im too impatient to order online, if I want game, I want game NOW!

Good thing i'm using my current £40 credit on SSX on Friday! Was worried they might not be stocking this when I saw the headline but i'm guessing they are probably sitting in stores already.

I had totally forgotten Dead Space 2 was this year, that's definately one of my highlights!

One night I had a few mates over, beers, complete darkness and all of us taking it in turns to play Dead Space 2, really good times! In terms of atmosphere, I don't think I've played a better game.

Highlights for me this year have been Portal 2, Gears 3 and SR: The 3rd.......I am also a couple of hours into Rayman Origins and it really does deserve all the praise its been getting, so it will probably be another contender for me.

Saints Row was great, great fun and had some fantastic missions but I feel like the lack of a proper cohesive storyline (including those 'whats going on???' moments when cutscenes didn't really explain things properly) and a dull middle section let it down. Oh and I had zero interest after the story finished, only a few of those side activities are much fun imo.

I can't fault Gears 3 and the cooperative and competitive multiplayer stuff was the best so far in the series but it was just more Gears and didn't really push any boundaries.

Portal 2 is my favourite game of the year (so far!), it was different, funny and memorable and had a great cooperative campaign. I agree with most people here though, Skyrim will win it and thats coming from someone who hasn't and doesn't plan on playing it.

I'm going to have to add yet another L.A Noire....only got onto the second disc, I tried my hardest to like it as I love Rockstar so, but it really was just dull and boring. I also slightly regret buying Red Dead again just to play the zombie expansion thingy, it was good and I finished it but I was bored with the world of Red Dead by then.

Nearly bought a few games this year that i'm glad I didn't, Rage, Bulletstorm and From Dust come to mind.

Gtag - InvertedForce

Mic - Yes but don't really use it unless requested.

Timezone - GMT

Mode - Horde/Beast (wanna do beast on hardcore or insane only now though)

Im putting this here as im getting very frustrated with people dropping out in the early rounds of horde when I'm in it for the long haul...still havn't got to wave 50, 36 is my highest I think. Hoping for some good team work with you guys!

Awesome.

GTA games got me into gaming and although IV wasn't as 'fun' as the previous ones, what it did do was superb, so I will be counting down the days till this one. I just couldn't get into IV's expansions because by the time they came out I was bored of the city and the graphics had started looking outdated. I'm guessing they'll probably use most of the tech from LA Noire for this?

So i'm hoping for a larger area for starters and yeh i'd put money on it being somewhere we've already seen in the GTA universe. I'd love to see London but I doubt that'll happen. Whatever they do, it'll be great and i'll buy it.
