I feel when people talk about whether Mario is a great franchise or not, they should take these Party games into account each time and dock the requisite number of points from the franchise of Mario as a whole. (There's about as many bad Sonic games as there are bad games with Mario's name on it)
I really hate that they stopped letting you play as Donkey Kong in these. He was my GUY. :(
Man after Vinny got that Alucard Shield this went from being a playthrough to being a podcast. They're BARELY paying attention to the game anymore. Oh well. At least we have Mega Man!
I wonder if there will be a shift in tone from this video to UPF this week given today's events. (I imagine a lot of people will be shocked for a while)
Most people who like Sonic games don't like most Sonic games. 90% of Sonic games are rushed garbage, but there's about as many of the good ones in that last 10% as any game series. I just kind of ignore shit I don't like, and focus on what I have fun with. It works out for me!
This review feels kind of like Naval-gazing, or something...i dunno. I don't mind arcade-y design focused around replaying a game for a high score. I think that's cool. I like games that I can play in an afternoon and then 5 more times that week and then off and on throughout the year.
I'm really not that into the idea of "games evolving to the modern progression of the more advanced today times that make me feel cool." I can see griping about the price, but if you get it used or have a lot of spare money or whatever it's not that relevant. I dunno.
I kind of wish they were listening to the yellow tapes, at least. They're getting zero of the story. The yellow tapes are meant to be listened to as soon as you get them, so that you still get story. (I think yellow tapes should have been actual codec cutscenes with talking heads that play automatically, so people didn't just skip them)
