This is too much the best time to be playing video games! Too many games!

Going to miss that laugh.

You get to a point where you feel you know someone after listening to them weekly for five years. Which is why it really hurts that Ryan Davis has passed away. It is always sad when someone dies, even if it is someone you have never met and never will meet, someone who doesn't even know you exist. But when you feel that you know this person on the level that I feel we have all come to know the Bombsquad... then it is like the passing of a dear friend.

I started following the Crew when they did The Hotspot. I know that, but I cannot remember much of it. I was in a bad place mentally at the time and have repressed years of memories it seems, but the guys helped me immensely. When Jeff "left" some of the magic was gone, and I remember not visiting Gamespot much after that. At the time he was the one I really followed. When he and Ryan Davis got together to start a new site, I was overjoyed. Joined one of the first days it was possible to sign up for an account. I had not anticipated what the site would become.

Every member of the Crew is someone I hold dear, in a way. They all have specific qualities and personalities making them people I wish I could hang out with, which have always been wildly unlikely since I live in Norway. While every member of the crew is funny, the one who never failed to make me laugh was Ryan. Simply by laughing he would brighten my day. Seriously, that laughter of his should make anyone smile. You can just hear how much fun he is having, how much he enjoys whatever happens at that specific moment. That laugh has gotten me through recent dark periods, as whenever I feel very blue I just find snippets of Bombcasts or Quick Looks where I know he breaks out in laughter.

The fact that we will never hear that laughter applied to future moments saddens me. But I can take solace in the fact that I can always find that laughter somewhere, in the myriads of videos and podcasts he was in.

And when Saints Row 4 has arrived I shall make my character as close to Ryan as possible. A small way of honoring him, but at least it is something. Rest in Piece Ryan Davis. And thanks for all the great moments.

Finally caved, got a PS3

Got some extra cash, and finally found someone auctioning one off for around 214 USD here. That is 1200 NOK, when this particular one (Slim 320Gb) usually costs around 2000 NOK (357 USD).

Now, my main reason for wanting one has been two-fold. Journey and finally having a Blu-ray player. But only getting it for that would be kind of a waste, even though most decent Blu-ray players cost the same as what I paid for this PS3.

So before it arrives I need something more to use on it. I got lots of work the next three days, so I won't be able to really dive in until Sunday, which means I got time to get more stuff. Already ordered a copy of the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD collection, as I have always wanted to play those. But then I am at a loss...

I already own a 360, do most my gaming these days on PC. I don't care much for Metal Gear or Final Fantasy, and I don't like sport or racing games (unless it's Burnout). So... what should I get?

I know this question pop up way to much, so I am not going to share it on the forum. Hopefully one of you, my fine followers, will have some good ideas!

My family just beat the alien invasion.

That is something you rarely get to say. But I can say it now.

I'm not going to say anything about the ending of the game by the way, so don't worry about that spoilers, I will however spoil some armor, weapon and other abilities I guess.

So, I just beat XCOM: Enemy Unknown (on Normal, as I never managed to get into the original, thus I did not have the skill for anything else), and I did it with a team made out of my family. Which means I made damn sure I went forward slow, as I could not lose any of them. I also used them exclusively together in the beginning to level them up, then I only used one or two together with other recruits.

This made the entire game even more fun, as I could level up "my family", give them new gear and abilities. When Very Difficult missions came along, I could send my Special "Family" Ops team on it to kick some alien ass. And boy, did my team kick some ass. With plasma gear, Ghost, Titan and Archangel Armors my team killed everything. We faced tons of injuries, some nearly fatal, but we prevailed.

Funnily enough, my avatar in the game turned out to be Gifted. Which was fine enough, as my avatar was a sniper specced to be long to medium range, forgoing the Squad Sight for the ability to fire after movement. The only other gifted soldier in my rooster turned out to be my brother. Who is also a sniper... But hey, it worked out! We beat the aliens!

From left to right: My mom, brother, me, brother, father, brother. We kick ass.

This is just one of the reasons why XCOM is such an awesome game. That is all.

Enough is enough!

I have decided that I need to do something with all the games I have. I got a metric fuckton of games I haven't beaten, and sadly I buy more games way to often. Sure, buy them on sale, but it still cost money. And I still seldom beat them. So the rest of the year I will limit myself to only buying a few games, and at most one game a month. I am therefore going to set up a small list of what I know I will need to buy. Hopefully I can manage without buying any other games. Fat chance!

April - Gears of War 3: I already bought this, which is why I place it here.

May - Diablo 3: Gotta get that loot!

June - Darksiders 2: Loved the first, need the second.

July -

August -

September -

October - Borderlands 2: Guns!

November -

December -

And that is what I got so far. Hopefully the other months can remain empty for now, so that I can buy an indie game here and there. But I bet something else pops up that I have forgotten...

My gaming-plan for the year is to at least stay above 50% on Beaten, hopefully get it to 60%. Bring on my mandatory three week vacation please!

Which beard!

Poll this fucker up!

Going to shave my face again on Thursday evening/Friday. A friend of mine requested that I should do something crazy, so he found me this chart:

Please don't choose the Super Mario... it's completely impossible.

I have about one more week of beard now. This took three months to grow.

Now, I have put numbers on that sucker, and will try to do whatever get the most votes. I was going to do this only on my Facebook, but I barely have any people on Facebook who cares, so I am going to let it spill over here as well. I am going to wear it like that only for the weekend, as I don't think my boss will be happy with some weird shit going on in my face. She practically fainted when I cut my hair shorter...

Oh, and some of those are kinda unrealistic for me to do, as I look somewhat like what you see on the right now. And yes, I know, I shouldn't add this to the Off-topic boards, as this is pretty stupid. However, if I just made a blogpost no-one would see it. And that wouldn't do me any good, now would it?

EDIT:

Winner is Hulihee. Check it out!

Making videos

I have begun making actual videos with actual commentary.

Right now I only have a few Skyrim videos up, but I will branch out and play more games as time goes on. I call the "series" Faceless Gaming, which should be obvious to anyone who have read A Song of Ice and Fire.

I want critique and suggestions, so feel free to tear me a new one! I need to know what I do wrong to make things right after all.
