@familyphotoshoot: Well, yeah. But it doesn't seem like there are any FPS nowadays with 15-20 well-done animations. Especially in COD, there's like two. Guy get shot, guy fall down. Guy get knifed, guy keel over.
Left 4 dead 1&2 manages to have great animations while still having ragdoll physics.
@Ahmad_Metallic: I'm not having a debate with someone who just said that good game art isn't the same as good graphics, because that's incredibly retarded.
It really isn't I mean sure in a broad sense they could be put in the same category but good art does not necessarily mean good graphics. For example Okami has a great visual art style, but graphically it's kind of mediocre. While something like Crysis is excellent graphically but is boring in the art department.
After playing Dwarven Fortress and Minecraft I'm staring to think that the mainstream industry's quest for developing the best graphics is actually hurting gameplay and story innovation. So I'm in the mode for playing more games with simple graphics but surprisingly deep gameplay like how Dwarven Fortress and Minecraft are.
@JB16: I found The Fourth Kind not very scary solely because it wasn't real. I'm usually not a fan of stuff that has "real footage," like The Blair Witch Project. I guess I just get annoyed when movies are touted as "real," especially in the horror genre. If I hadn't known it was fake, I would say that it had potential to be pretty good.
Yeah I agree, when I first saw it I didn't know any of it was fake so the fear I felt was real. Then I felt pure dissapointment when I looked it up and found out it was all fake.
@JB16: I find aliens (specifically grays) to be freaky. I was going to watch that movie until I read that it was all fake and they got sued for saying it was real. I'm going to give it a shot. If I can suspend that thought while watching it, I think I'll enjoy it.
Yeah I'll admit that kinda killed a lot of the creepyness for me when I looked up the movie right after I saw it and found out everything they claimed was "real", was 100% fake.
I always found The Fourth Kind to be pretty creepy. Seriously the scene where they playback her audiotape recording, and the final confrontation scene is really well done.
