@turambar: But, that's your opinion on "if a game is worth putting down money for" and not your opinion on the actual game, which is what we were talking about before. It's two different opinions on two different subjects.

No, its not. Don't be daft.

Yeah, agree with this guy. Saying an opinion of whether it's worth the money is different than an opinion on whether the game is good or not are not different things. Heck if everything were free, we wouldn't need reviews for anything. I mean you can look at a review as "grading" a game, and maybe that doesn't take price into account, but as a gamer you look at that grade and get an idea of what you're going to get for your money. The general consensus is Star Trek is not worth the money.

So if it were free, should you play it? Why not? I invested $2 in it at Red Box...Tonight will determine whether I cut my losses at $2 and return it tomorrow, or keep it longer. Based on the reviews I don't want to spend more than $10-15 on this.

I'll rent it at Red Box tonight and see if my girlfriend will suffer through it a bit with me after we're drunk. Maybe the alcohol will make it playable.

I'll say this, if you compare this to other movie games, it doesn't look as bad as Thor or Captain America...But looking at it as a supposed AAA game with a $60 price tag...It looks pretty shitty. So compared to shit I'd say it looks like not so bad smelling shit. Compared to everything else? I wouldn't want this on my shoe.

Admitting it has major issues is the same thing as saying it's boned.

I don't know. I like a lot of games that have major issues. Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite games this generation and it has big problems.

What a movie still deserve a good review if it was filled with huge, preventable mistakes? People want to call games art, or at least something on par with movies, and then when they're rotten shit they still want to stick up for them. You can't have it both ways, you have to hold things to a higher standard . This game shouldn't have been made, or at least at the $60 price. Maybe as a $15 XBLA game...

@jdh5153: I didn't think Colonial Marines was that bad either. It was playable, and enjoyable.

o.O Maybe if you're on LSD while playing.

So I am currently making my mind up on which college to go to. I will be Majoring in Game Design, and both colleges I am looking at require PC computers for these courses.

Here's the problem: I grew up in a Mac household.

I know the OS quite well, but I know damn near next to nothing about internals, and how to pick a computer. I know desktop is better than laptop, and Windows 8 is hot garbage, but that's it.

Help me out duders, what's a good laptop for playing (and making) games? Price isn't a factor.

You can run Windows just fine on your Mac via BootCamp. It's not hard at all and works just like a Windows PC.

I run Windows 8 on my 2012 MacBook Pro without issue (except for issues caused by Windows 8 of course). You can also use Crossover to install and run Windows programs while booted to OS X. It works fine for some stuff, but other programs don't work as well in that emulated state.

I definitely recommend staying Mac and running Windows. You'll be incredibly disappointed with any hardware not designed by Apple.

The iOS store is still the best app store around when it comes to games or apps, so there's a huge advantage to go with the iPhone. I used to play a lot of games on my iPhone and it was great, but once I got an iPad I shifted all of my mobile gaming to the iPad, it's just a better experience.

I'm pretty sure you can still get the iPhone 4 for free with a 2 yr contract, 4S is $99, and 5 is $199. A new 5 should be coming out soon and rumor is Apple will be releasing a "budget" iPhone possibly this summer, so if you want to wait to see those it might be beneficial for you.

Draw Something, FIFA 13, Modern Combat (I think it's that one...I played one with online deathmatch, it took some getting used to but wasn't that bad).
