I've always been apprehensive about talking about The Last of Us. While it was garnering critical and commercial acclaim, I was wondering what the big deal was. The gameplay is pretty poor, the story very derivative. That all changed with the second entry. This game is great. It is almost impossible to talk about Uncharted 3 in some kind of vacuum; it's amazing predecessor, Uncharted 2, is literally the blueprint for Uncharted 3 in almost every way. Unfortunately, the ability to replicate that great experience is not a smooth one. First off, the good. I enjoyed this game immensely and found it to be my favorite game experience of 2011, despite an unusually amazing year chock full of great experiences. It is a game which stuck with me for a long time after I finished it, and even today I find myself humming one of the songs or thinking of one of the dungeons from the game when I least expect it.
