Best Jay Z Album?

Ok so I know a lot of people don't think Jay Z is the best rapper of all time(#1 on every list) or that he is anything worth mentioning(again #1 on every list) but that is neither here nor there.  Today I brought up what was Jay Z's best album and I got three answers.  I got Reasonable Doubt(Devils, Two 22s, Dead Presidents, Brooklyn's finest) Blueprint(Izzo, Girls Girls, Heart of the City, Renegade)  and the Black Album(December 4th, Lucifer, My 1st Song, Dirt off Your Shoulders).  Now haters keep it moving, but to those that are fans of Jay, what's your opinion? Is it his breakout 1st album, his 5 mic Blueprint, or the monstrous movie that was the Black Album.  If you have another favorite feel free to express it, Im just going off the three that are most agreed upon as his best.

The blue album is his best work.  His newest album is mainstream crap.  He does Pop songs now.  He first albums were gritty, sweaty and cracked out.  New shit, is over pampered and fueled by clean drugs.

No dirt in your dust, no soul in your rhymes.

Point being. His older albums all flowed as one piece.  This new shit, is all singles.  Just a bunch of money making hits.  You can't toke to that crap.

This new one is the type of album people put in and flip around to find the song they want to hear.  Instead of just hitting play.

New shit is Jay-z without the Jazz.

By the way, even though I think Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint are great albums (the Black Album not so much), how is Jay-Z number one on every list? I see Nas and Rakim top these greatest MC lists far more often. I think those kind of lists are pretty stupid anyway.

I think when it comes to MC's, yeah theres a lot of people who are above Jay Z.  But when it comes to rappers, not just the MC, as a rapper Jay Z is the best.  Again this is a very subjective matter, like who is the best rock band of all time, or whats the best video game.  Everyone has an opinion.  But why i feel Jay Z is picked #1, is cause of what he did to the game.  He is the only person to stay in the limelight this deep into his life.  To consistently put out music that people like for 16 years, its never been done before in hip hop.  From his balance of lyrics(which I know have dumbed down over the years) and his credibility (as a musician and a business man) he is the "best ever".

The Black Album, if I had to choose one. I really can't. I can just say that The Blueprint 3 is probably the worst.

Resonable Doubt for sure. Great production, great verses from Jay Z, a Biggie feature. Every song is amazing, and Dead Presidents is one of the best hip hop tracks ever.

Fair enough. I'm not that keen on a lot of his recent output, but he's probably up there for me as one of the best. Plus I like the guy as a personality. I think it's amazing this thread has gone this long without the usual "all rap sucks" brigade chiming in.

OK, I will.

They used to also tell me the Dollar was invincible, that Wall Street was free from corruption and that governments didn't participate in False Flag Operations. But then I found out that the Dollar was a paper, fiat currency, Wall Street was possibly the most corrupt place on earth and they planned Operation Northwoods.

What was once deemed the idiotic soon becomes accepted fact. Tell that to Hermetic Societies of Ancient Rome, Knights Templars of the Holy Roman Empire and the Rosicrucians of medieval Europe.

When did I say this?

I'm saying Jay Z may have got himself involved in some fraternity-like groups. You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. Isn't that what business and life is?

And as for the US government.... HAHA. They don't need toppling, leave them alone and they'll destroy themselves. Doing a damn fine job of it as well.

@FourWude: In answer to your original question btw, probably Reasonable Doubt, since that's his debut and he maybe hadn't gotten around to plotting the fall of western democracy yet. Try giving that one a listen.

Reasonable Doubt is obviously a classic but i didn't experience that till well after it came out. Blueprint is definitely my favorite Jay album, basically because i remember when that came out like it was yesterday. 8th grade, bumping "Takeover", the whole Nas vs Jay-Z thing got me to buy Stillmatic, and subsequently the whole Nas catalogue. i also remember Hard Knock Life and Big Pimpin', but The Blueprint is definitely the album that i remember most of Jay.
