In everyone of those 'run someplace with a lot of zombie hordes spawning over and over again' situations, melee weapons are almost needed. The final sprint over the bridge in the last campaign is made much easier by having a  trusty bat or crowbar to swat zombies while you run for your life.

@gzl5000: Oh yeah! I forgot completely about the bare-handed fighting style. And yeah the dualwielding system is a lot different than wots2 because of what you said right there about the scrolls. The "match" techniques are actually from the original WOTS, but I think being able to buy match scrolls is completely new which makes it a lot more feasible to have a lot of moves 'matched' aka autoblocked.

All the scroll based fighting styles are awesome (dual ninja sword, dual normal sword, and bare handed) and getting the scrolls actually gives a pretty good incentive to keep playing. Personally my favorite fighting style is dual normal katana, but Zaji's ninja sword has some awesome moves you can unlock with it.

@ScottishGamer: I agree or at least hope that to be the case when it comes to traditional controllers sticking around. They actually have to be in certain game genres where motion controls don't make sense and actually complicate things. Can you imagine playing Tekken 6 or Street Fighter 4 with motion controls, let alone something like Dragon Age?

" I have heard, that certain party members can only be gotten in the early stages of the game, not wanting to miss out on anything in the game, what should I do in those first few hours. Also if there is anything else I should do let me know, just want to get the most out of one play-through as i dont see myself replaying it with the pile of games i got. "
Leliana, Dog, and Sten can all be missed early on and don't bring Morrigan to the Mage tower.

@RiddleBrother:
It is by no means a heavily polished game. Your best bet is to try it and just be open to the craziness that ensues. Think of it like a kung-fu movie. It's cheezy and doesn't look very good, but it can be awesome

" I have not bought it yet. Compared to the second and first, what has changed? Are there any cool moments like: "Im the wind, and the wind cannot be killed"  "

There isn't a hard time limit. Its based on events instead. This means that you can see a bunch of events and progress the story through in 9 in game days or mess around and go through 30+ in game days. You can now draw your weapon in the middle of any cutscene to provoke a fight which can lead to some pretty funny moments when you draw your sword at inappropriate times. You can make your own swords and now make and use spears as well. Those are the really big changes. As for cool moments? Yes, there are some. Some of the endings have awesome choices to make and things to say that are pretty badass.

" I liked it and am still playing it. I'm enjoying it a lot more than the second one, maybe because there's so many more crazy, wacky things in this one (cardboard samurai!). There's certainly a lot of annoying stuff-"search" missions are just plain irritating and some endings are nearly impossible to get on instant kill, but I think having more endings and lots more sword and sword parts collectibles makes it more fun to replay. "
Yeah, instant kill requires either a lot of saving, a lot of luck, or a lot of match scrolls. It still is a blast though imo. I agree about some of those random searching missions...they are annoying, but thankfully they are (mostly) not necessary to do.

The DLC isn't going to blow you mind, but running around killing everyone while dressed as a Spartan is pretty amazing. But so is one hit killing everything with an over-sized tuna or an onion stalk. I think there is a cardboard sword in the DLC to match your cardboard samurai.

Alive 2007.  Awesome songs mixed together to bring it all to a whole new level. Damn, I think I am going to go listen to this right now.

So now that the game has been out for about a month and three (free) DLC packs have come and gone. How does everyone feel about this game? Is anyone still playing it amid all the other awesome games out right now?

Personally, I think it was a good game and easily the best in the series and has a very unique (if not quirky) tone to it. Now let's be honest, the games has its rough edges to be sure, but I am having a lot of fun just plain messing around and kicking ass. I still come back to it every now,  but all the November releases alone are making this difficult.

What about you guys? Loved it, hated it, or have has everyone already forgotten about this rough gem?
