@onan: That video reflects my feelings/opinion pretty closely.

Fans : Hey what is this crap, color swap ending and nothing makes sense? Please explain.

BW : ...

Fans : Hello? Anybody home? This doesn't cut it as the ending, you hear? Explain.

BW : ....

Fans : Seriously what is this shit, answers, n-o-w!

BW : ...We listened to your feedback and decided to give you more of what you didn't like. No, we won't answer questions about it. No, we won't explain it further, don't try to ask us. Remember to buy DLC! [Insert crash clip here]

Fans : Ummm, seriously? This is it?

Good job guys, you couldn't have done it much worse than that. I hope you will enjoy the CoD / BF fanbases (no offense to ppl who play them, stereotype was intended) since you decided to abandon/anger the fanbase that enjoyed your games that had something else than just shooting dudes and multiplayer.

Don't come crying back your to old fans when your next literal Gears of Effect (stereotype again, haven't actually played any GoW games so I can't actually say anything about those but term is too good not to use) bombs hard and you think about returning to games with more content than multiplayer.

And this DLC is supposed to come out during summer? Good luck finding people still intrested in your crappy extended ending when Diablo 3 hits us in May.

Honest and plentiful "fuck you" to the people who are "responsible" (EA, BW, C.Hudson or whoever) for killing a good series and sci-fi universe in less than 10 minutes.

You can take a crap on a canvas and call it art but a lot of people will probably still call it what it is, shit.

And angry venting over.

TL:DR

Plinkett-like video pretty much says it all. This is stupid, just plain stupid...fuck the ending and anything related to it, my game ends when Harbringer drops in and says "Hi".

- edit - Yeah there is still slim hope that this thing actually makes sense/fixes something but I'm that much of a pessimist/realist that I'm not holding my breath.

@pyromagnestir: He either did what I did and forgot / ignored the rescue mission on Rannoch or didn't have enough blue/red souls to cheat his way out of the situation with both sides as best friends forever.

My reaction was similiar, "This isn't looking good....oh no...nonononononononononnonono....oh crap".

And I lived with the fact that I just killed the quarians and one of the best characters in the series :(

@Lord_Punch: But then again, they have established certain degree of quality with their previous products so wanting/waiting for similiar quality from the ending isn't IMO unfair. But yeah, there is always a risk that you won't like something you buy, it is just sad/annoying that you have to gamble with games that cost 50-80 euros/dollars when books and movie tickets are much smaller "investment" in money.

Personally I got mostly over the ending and finished my re-run of ME2 with renegade fem shep on insanity and started 3 with her also, I still hate the ending but atleast I can enjoy everything before it now, I'll just stop playing after missile tank gauntlet.

I agree with your points though but it doesn't mean that I and probably others too feel betrayed by Bioware.

@Lord_Punch: Nice btw how gameinformer just plain lies about the dlc, it won't offer new endings. It will just try to clarify the pile of crap that we were given, meaning that they didn't even have time to put their complete shit ending in the game.

"So yeah, we will give you more of same shit instead of something that makes sense or gives closure, enjoy!"

- edit - So long Bioware, we had fun but you are dead to me now, thanks a lot EA.

the Catalyst isn't a god,

He's a glowy, transcendent being that can use space magic to make people half-robot. Its pretty close!

The Catalyst is very much a part of this world, just like EDI and the prothean VI and the geth are. The Catalyst doesn't use the Crucible, Shepard does. So is Shepard a god now, having been the one to use the space magic advanced technology? Oh and the glowing. Gee, I guess a god would glow...

But can Avina perform space magic that alters all matter in the galaxy at atom level instantly? Unless... Avina is just a front for spacekidgodthingy!

Also looks like my post in other thread has been lost in the intarwebz so I'll repeat my mindstorming about the green ending particulary here, I apologize.

What if these new orgthetics create new synthetics? Will they also rise up against their creators because they are space-racists?

And what about scenario where before dead planet sprouts life after the space magic bit? Will it be "just" organic life or is every atom in known galaxy this hybrid matter?

And if it isn't this hybrid life, wouldn't it completely invalidate the whole merging bit and make the cycle necessary again meaning that not only did the ending make no sense but everything in the three games and especially the ending (which is pure crap imho still) pointless?

Well......whatever, I guess.

If they're not replacing that godawful ending, I'm done with ME3. Don't feel like buying DLC/replaying it with the incredibly dumb ending we have now.

At this point I'm pretty much done with it, even if they would "fix" the ending to something decent.

The damage is already done. They decided to put the current ending out, either as a delaying tactic because they ran out of time with their planned ending or just didn't have any idea what to do with it.

Even in best case scenario (from my pov) they had ID theory planned for the ending or something similiar. Still the game is incomplete with piece of shit for an ending and the "Truth" is nowhere to be seen anytime soon. In any case, whether they just slap something random together or have actual content for it, they have lost a lot of people.

I hated the ending, saw ID theory threads/links and dared to hope that BW writers were smarter than I thought but I kinda have lost faith in that.

(If there are writing errors or the text doesn't make any sense I apologize, haven't slept at all and my head might not be working properly)

With regards to the idea of new life after sythesis, and whether they would be also synthorganics, the answer is yes they would be. In the synthesis ending you see that when it pans to the shot of the planet the Normandy crashed on, even the trees had signs of synthetisism. Meaning everything in creation is now a hybrid. So if a new species was to spring from the dirt, the dirt itself is a hybrid.

I was thinking about a scenario where in before lifeless planet new life begins, similiar to earth millions of years ago when first single cell organisms came to be when earth was young. When the conditions are right and stuff.

Because unless green beam alters all matter in the galaxy in an instant and makes atoms half synthethic, making synthesis ending even sillier than before.

And if we assume that only lifeforms have been affected and not all matter, what happens if offspring of hybrid life decides to create their own version of geth, would they automaticly know that everyone is hybrid now and they won't try to kill all other life like spacechild says would happen surely.

Why would having a bit of organics and synthetics cease diversity. On the organics side alone, me and you are both humans, but we have wide variety of features that we share and a wide variety of differences. Adding on that we all have a little synthetitism within us just gets added to the group of things that all humans share. I don't see how that takes away diversity.

Unless I'm mistaken, the entire logic behind stopping all conflict between organics and synthetics by eradicating the differences between them would be because so there would be no functional differences between them and no reason for conflict. Similarly, it's believed that over time, racism will cease to exist because everyone will one day be a mix of black, white, and asian ancestry. Still, even now we've seen that people that have that mixed ancestry can still remain bigoted due to having lighter skin than someone else, or straighter hair, or bluer eyes.

Also, we have differences in belief systems such as religion, or political opinions that cause rifts in a population. Take a look at the Israel-Palestinian conflict, or bringing this back to Mass Effect, the schism between the Geth heretics and the rest of the Geth. If even pure synthetics can't get along, it's foolish to imagine that Synthesis will solve any of the root issues laid out by the Catalyst at all, unless it was a true synthesis and not just paying lip service to it by incorporating mechanical parts into organic beings. Biotics across the galaxy are already partially synthetic, as are all of the Quarians, and that doesn't help them get along with synthetic races like the Geth.

It's just a ridiculous, childish concept that's blurted out by a ridiculous, child-like AI. It's noble and sweet in a way, but as a practical solution as presented it doesn't work.

They are partly synthetic in that they have synthetic parts in them. Like a robot arm or something. Not in the way synthesis incorporated the two. Synthesis altered everything on a fundamental level. It resulted in a new DNA for all life, coming from both synthetics and organics.

Nothing about the Synthesis ending implies that surface differences between species will change. Humans will continue to be humans, geth will continue to be geth, Reapers will continue to be Reapers. Only on a deep physiological level, they will all share this new DNA. It doesn't fix any political or racial tension between lifeforms.

It does however completely fulfill the Catalyst's purpose, ensuring that organics will never be wiped out by synthetics, since the distinction between the two no longer exists. That is the conflict that's ended by synthesis.

Silly question came to my mind.

What if these DNA modified orgthetics create new "synthetics"? Will they too be hybrids by default or are they going to wipe all hybrid life out because they are spaceracists?

Or what if new life begins after the space magic, will that also be hybrid or are we just delaying the reaping by X ammount of time?

Actually this is interesting nit pick, wouldn't the synthesis ending be invalidated immediatly after it happening since new life might sprout on some random planet?
