The list...

Well, the week of Oct 21 is almost upon us! So I've gotta organise my list of games I want to buy that week-and the following weeks-so I know exactly what to ask for when I go to buy them.
So for the holiday season, I've got these games on my list:

  • DeadSpace
  • Saints Row 2
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • FarCry2
  • Bioshock
  • Fallout 3
  • Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
  • Resistance 2
  • Mirror's Edge
  • Tomb Raider Underworld
  • Prince Of Persia
Those are the games I want, but it's not the definite "buy" list. I'd wait for reviews for DeadSpace, SR2, Farcry2, Motorstorm, ME, TR and PoP. So that's just over half my list, so now I'm left with 4 must buys, which are LBP, Bioshock, Fallout 3, and Resistance 2. Also, I want to pick up a DualShock 3 controller for my PS3, as I'm getting sick of the light-ness of the sixaxis. Now all I need are those damn PSN cards, then I'm all set for the entire Xmas holiday :D.
Nothing much has really happened that's worth blogging about, but I did finally pick up The Sims Apartment Life expansion. If you didn't know, I was a very big fan of the Sims games for ages, they were the reason I'm into gaming now, but now I'm just waiting for The SIms 3, as I've gotten kinda bored of the game now, but I do play it from time to time. I used to stay up all night playing the sims, controlling my little computer people, it was just really addictive. Other than that, my one week holiday was really crappy, since I barely did anything, and I didn't even get to play my PS3 much, which is pretty sad. But that will be fixed by the end of October :D.

LittleBigPlanet Beta, New Resistance 2 shots, a holiday...

You may have heard about Eurogamer giving away about 5000 beta keys for the LBP beta, well, after about an hour of clicking refresh, I finally got a key, but it was so late that I just set it to download and went to bed. First thing I did in the morning was run through the intro level-which by the way, is probably THE most creative intro I have ever seen-and I ran through a couple of the levels available in the demo. Afterschool I got into create mode, and I've been slowly building up my skills with the level creator, which can waste away hours of your time if you're dedicated enough. And it's relatively easy to make something, though the more complex your object is, the harder it is to make, and I still haven't got the hang of things, but I'm slowly getting better. The online play is pretty good, some of the levels were really fun to play, but I did run into some problems, like being unable to leave the room unless you quit and restarted the game, or extreme lag, but this is what the beta is for I guess. But I really, really love this game, it's a must-buy for me.
Onto the Resistance 2 shots. I'm sure you've seen the latest batch of R2 screenshots that were released a day or so ago, and they look absolutely STUNNING! I can't wait to play that game! I wasn't really expecting much, judging by the older shots, but I wasn't expecting it to look this amazing so suddenly and so close to release, I love Insomniac :D.
As for school stuff, the govt. here issued a letter to all schools, telling them that the whole of next week until the 5th of October is a holiday. We've only been back to school for 2 weeks, and already we have a holiday... cool... XD.
I guess that's it for now, nothing else happening, so I'll be blogging later on.

Fracture, Mercs 2 Demo impressions...

I downloaded the Fracture and Mercs 2 demos yesterday, and here's my impressions:

Fracture:
The game looks pretty, but feels average,  the terraforming stuff looks cool at first, but then just gets boring-imo- some of the weapons were cool, but felt kinda weak.  My biggest gripe was the controls, they're just a tad overwhelming at first, and since I'm used to pressing R1 instead of R2 to fire, so it was annoying at first. Overall, I'll probably give this a miss.

Mercs 2:
The game felt "meh" to me, blowing stuff up was cool and the explosions were impressive, but ultimately it  doesn't live up to the hype.

Anyways, other than those two games, nothing much has been going on, a friend came over yesterday, we played through the resistance campaign in Co-Op. That was pretty fun, we got upto the big fight in manchester(i think) before he had to leave.
On a sadder note, another friend of mine has been in hospital for the past week, I just found out yesterday that he has a brain tumour, we're all going to visit him today though. :(

I also downloaded the Burnout Bikes update, and so far I really like the bikes, they're fast and really fun, I also LOVE the day/night cycle, I currently have mine set on sunset, it makes the game that much prettier. I haven't gone online yet, so I don't know about the freeburn challenges.
I guess that's it for today's blog, so until next time!

GoW:Chains Of Olympus, Wipeout Pulse, Burnout Bikes!

I borrowed God Of War: Chains Of Olympus from a buddy this week, I just beat it a few minutes ago, and I gotta say, that game is the most phenomenal game I have played on the PSP. I just wish I had played the other games on the PS2, but sadly, I don't think I ever will, the games are banned where I live, but that won't stop some stores from selling the games, GTA IV was banned here, but it was being sold before the official release date. The other problem is that now, you'll rarely see a PS2 game being sold. But anyways, I love this game, and it's friggin awesome.
I also got Wipeout Pulse, damn that's a fast game, as much as I love playing in zone mode, I can never get past 20 zones, it's just too fast. If a disc version of Wipeout HD would be released, I'd definetly get that. I don't really get why it's a PSN exclusive. But oh well, there's a ton of games coming out soon, and I'm hyped up way more than I was for GTA. Yesterday I caved and read the online manual for LBP, I really wish I hadn't, because now I'm hyped beyond the point of no return. :(
As for the Burnout Bikes pack, just a few days left, this thursday I gotta get online at some point to update the game, I just can't wait to get the bikes, but what I really want even more is the day/night cycles and dynamic weather.
Also, I've been playing through COD4 on my PC, and I'm upto the point just after you assassinate that dude in chernoby land you have to rappel out of the hotel building, I died after that point, so I just quit before I lost my temper, I'll get back to playing it later on though. It's a pretty good game though, and runs very well on my computer, although on low settings, it still looks really good.

A little update about my project too, I've presented my Design Brief and Situation, and Timeplan on A3, and I was such a total idiot when I glued the pictures onto the paper, I ran my hand over the top of the paper, and all the color smudged across the pages. Now those pictures took over 10 minutes to print, and I was running low on ink, so that little 'accident' of mine cost me an hour of my day, just re-printing and re-sticking everything all over again.

No PS3 love :( New music, bored.

I feel bad for my PS3, it's been collecting dust all week, I've been waiting for October to roll around so I can get some new games, but I haven't got around to finishing Uncharted. I'm on the last few chapters though. I had to write three essays for my English homework this week, and I had to do the corrections for my summer Biology exam-I'm glad I got 80%, I didn't have much to correct. I am going to borrow the PC version of COD4 from my friend, so that'll keep me busy for a day or two, I'm only interested in the SP, so I'm not going into MP, internet has been kinda sluggish the past few days.
As for the new music, Gym Class Heroes is pretty good, I like their new album. Fall Out Boy's new single is awesome too.
I also showed the Border and Cover to my teacher, he was pretty impressed. I hope my project turns out well.
It's been a pretty dull week so far. Maybe that'll change next week.

Border & Cover, Resistance 2 beta!

So I've finished the Border and Cover, I completely redesigned it, and made it in photoshop. I showed a A4 printout to my teacher today, he likes it, and I'm going to go get it printed out today.

The text has been removed, so the front cover doesn't look as good. But It'll do.

I might get Spore some time next week, still not sure when though. I saw the applications for the R2 beta, I applied and I hope to get into the beta.
Other than that, I'm just waiting for October to roll around so I can get some games to play. There's really nothing else I can really talk about, little is happening around here.
So until next time!

New Project...

This year, for my Design Tech. class, we have to design and build a model of either something to do with Storage, Display, Lighting, or Game Design(board game).  The grade we get for this project is worth 50% of our final grade in the summer. I was at first thinking of doing storage, but I kinda changed my mind, and I might go for display instead. I was thinking of making a small stand to go on a counter, to, for example display new movies, or music. Last year we had to design and build model clocks. It was pretty challenging, but I got a decent grade. I just wish I had worked on my file more, because that's where most of the marks were. This year the file will have to be over 30 A3 pages. It also has to be finished by December 4th so we can start building as soon as we get back after the winter break.

As for my English Lit. class, our teacher expects us to write two essay tasks each week, plus re-read To Kill A Mockingbird, and study 6 new poems. To top it all off I'm barely understanding anything in Chemistry-I haven't understood much since we started Electrolysis last year- so I guess this year is going to be pretty challenging.

Anyways, I've been working on a border for my project pages, and I've come up with this:

A little sketch of the border
A little sketch of the border

Obviously the final version will be on A3, and be at a higher quality, unfortunately my scanner is pretty crappy and it seems to take scans and copies at an angle. I need to get it replaced by next year, because by that time it would've been over 5 years since I bought it. I'd like to know what you think of the border. I can't really add color, since then I wouldn't be able to photocopy it at school.

*Updated* PhotoShop Experimentation...

I've been experimenting with photoshop lately, and I've been using pictures of my favourite game characters and adding effects and seeing how they look as profile pics.
Here are some that I've been working on today:

I wanted to do one of Drake, and Nathan Hale, but  I couldn't find pictures that worked well for Drake, and I couldn't find any pictures of Nathan Hale's face.
I would love to see some comments and what you think.
EDIT:
I've finally found a good pic of Hale, Drake, and Sackboy, also I've made one of Faith from Mirror's Edge. I want to make one of Bioshock's Big Daddy and Little Sister, but I haven't got as much time.
And since I can't really be bothered to make a new blog post, I'll post them up on this post.

First day of school...

Today is the first day of school for me, it was okay, I woke up early, got ready and sat at the computer for a bit, then left for school. I got there and met up with all my friends, gave out the gifts I had for them, and then we just waited for the bell to ring, it was really, really humid. So we wanted to get in as soon as possible. We didn't have any lessons today, just teachers handing out forms and papers, and school rules, and explaining how this year is the most important year of our lives. There were a few changes though, they now have security cameras around the school, and they have new rules too. We got our new locker numbers too, luckily this year mine is at the top, so I don't have to bend over to reach it. Only thing I do hate is that all the lockers have thick layer of dust in them, and its up to us to keep it clean.
I guess that's about it for today, not much else to blog about. So I guess that's it for now.
