Funny, for a country that was famous for inventing a lot of things, they've got a habit of nicking other people's work now. • Not that I recall.   With regard to stereotypical depictions in Japanese games, I regard those as equivalent to the depictions of sex and race in media from 50+ years ago: too foreign to be truly provocative.    That being said, I do remember finding V for Vendetta offensive.  The whole statement of that movie, that blowing up a building is a method for sending a revolutionary message, seemed dangerously naive.

  • Thanks for the replies, all.  It looks like time constraints may be the deciding factor.  I need a game I can jump into for thirty minutes at a time and get something done.  Unless I'm mistaken, Demon's Souls ain't that game.

I recommend buying a good anthology of scary short stories.  You'll run into a bunch of new authors you want to learn about, and probably pee yourself in the process.   Clive Barker's Dread has stuck with me more than near any other work I've read.

  • Does this game have the kind of loot variety to keep you coming back to the same character, or do you finish it and restart with someone new?  Trying to decide between this and Borderlands, and I know I'll play the hell out of either one, just curious about the replay differences.

  • Kinarion replied to the topic Expectations for SSFIV? in the Super Street Fighter IV board.
These will never happen, but:   1. Upgrades to Training mode including replays that show your inputs compared to the correct ones and a training mode that will teach you to counter to various common techniques (fireball trap, Rog rush, etc.).  1B. This one is really crazy: an option to record online matches, bring them into Training Mode and learn the inputs your opponent used, and then replicate yourself. 2. Stats ...

  • Came across this interesting passage in the Inferno today, turns out Dante runs into the prophet Muhammad in Hell (Canto 28).  He is found ripping open his chest and abdomen with his bare hands, and spilling his entrails on the ground in front of him as punishment for creating a false religion.  I'm guessing they leave that part out, but what an end-game boss!

Neither review really answered my  main question: is there any reason I should buy this instead of Forza 2 for a quarter the price?

  • Faster than light travel encompasses hyper speed though so long as we're talking about extreme fictional velocities.

I don't think I've seen anyone say it, but Trauma Center: New Blood for the Wii has consistently evoked laughs drunken and sober alike from my group of friends.  The degree of camp in that story is unparalleled.  Strange Christian undertones combined with some seriously screwed up pseudo-medicine and hilarious ailments (bear attack, anyone?) make this game the funniest I've had the pleasure of playing.  The cut-scenes alone don't make it though.  Co-op with a group of friends and few drinks makes the fast-paced play all the better.  It's to the point where all of us use the various hand signs of the doctors.
