I like it the first time when it was called the Maw.

This game makes the research pretty easy, and I've never been a very good researcher in older civs.

Basically, look in the upper right hand corner of your city map, and find the cities that are making the most amount of beakers, or research. Then build a library, and a university in those cities. Start researching Alphabet, and then Writing, and Literacy. If you get all of these first you'll get science bonuses. I would skip the great library (it never seems to do anything for me) and point towards University and Democracy as research goals.

AFTER you have 100 gold (which will give you a free settler) start trying to purchase those lower level techs off of your rivals. You may have to research Bronze Working to get archer defense, if your rivals start messing with you.

Also, with the technology win, you have to give the rival civs a lot of money and technology to placate them... or play a lot of defense and research weapons alongside science. I'm trying a technology win on Deity, for the third time, I can' seem to get it myself...

They did just drop the price, and offer  free map... 8 bucks for 4 maps!

If you play Big Team, it's worth it for Avalanche alone. Most people in the Legendary DLC thread want to play that every time.

But I imagine it will be free eventually... wait for the next pack to be announced first.

Picky, but you are right. Halo 1 had regenerating shields, and health packs.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 have regenerating health, as well as regenerating shields. The whole thing is spelled out here.

Halo 1's shields are a precursor to the health systems used in a lot of modern shooters, allowing you to be at "full health" when you run into a freshly respawned enemy. But yeah, I think TB42 is right.

The GiantBomb information has the release set at July 15th, but that's not right...

Does anybody know if they have a release date for this game yet?

I don't think it's a 60 dollar game, especially since I paid 40 dollars for Civ 4, which is a much more robust game. The graphics aren't significantly improved.... it kind of looks like a XBLA/PSN game at times.

I got it from the Gamefly, so the price didn't bother me.

I can say after a couple days of playing that my top 5 Sid Meier games stack up like this. Even though Civ Rev is low on my list, I consider it about an 80 out of 100 it's just that all the other Civs have set a very high bar.

1) Alpha Centauri
2) Civ 2
3) Civ 4
4) Civ Revolution
5) Colonization
