Let me guess Rorie played some World of Warcraft and purposely worse mismatched socks? I'm sure this'll be thrilling.

After playing through Final fantasy 13 this year, I kinda like Lightning as a character.

Keep in mind the only Final Fantasy games I have ever played were 7,8 and 13.

Kinda impressive you've managed to avoid playing a single good one! Was 2 next on your list?

You'd never know this man suffers from anxiety. I think I peed a little just watching the Brock interview...

I'm not sure these guys (especially Brad) would be dedicated enough to turn this into a recurring feature but I wish so badly for them to stick with it at least long enough to fight some proper large monsters, like a Rathalos or Tigrex or something. At the very least, this ordeal against Maccao was a lot more entertaining and triumphant than Brad's prior mix up with the Seltas in 4U.

These graphics are rough. I hope the next Nintendo handheld doesn't look like garbage.

Give me an NX game and I'm day one. I don't want to play these on a tiny screen.

Eh, obviously they don't compare to even the up-rezzed versions that were on the Wii and Wii U, but they really don't look bad on the handheld itself. Having them stretched out and blown up to fit a high-res video player on the internet isn't doing them any favors.

I'm an original 3DS user with a circle pad pro, and I find that the CPP goes a looong way in making the game easier on my hands with the added girth it gives the 3DS. I've sunk hundreds of hours in 4U and had some cramp issues at first, but after getting used to the controls and combat it became a lot easier to play from a relaxed state of mind instead of being very white-knuckle/tense all the time.

Total aside, after going back and watching all of the coverage the older MonHun games from GB (specifically the quick look for the MH Tri demo and Tri proper on the Wii, back from 2010) it's really nice to see the attitude shift from the comments section between then and now. A lot less people drive-by posting about how much this series sucks and how allegedly bad its controls are from people who haven't tried it. I would have even been one of those awful trolls back in 2010 who refused to play this based on how it looked and then mercilessly trashed it as being bad, janky, Japanese game design. Now that I've actually played this game and become a borderline obsessive, I do everything in my power to evangelize the series to anyone who'll listen to me.

Wrapping your head around the nuances of the combat takes a considerable up front investment compared to almost every other action game in existence (even Souls games in my opinion are relatively cake in comparison), but the reward that comes from, not even mastery per se, but a competence that you get after a handful of hours with MH is rewarding unlike anything else in video games. The learning curve is steep but once you hit the top of the plateau, dozens, or hell in a lot of players' cases hundreds/thousands of hours of gaming bliss awaits.

Yay, more MonHun videos from the GB crew! Brad and Jason's 4U video sent me on my first foray into the series, which turned into a 600+ hour obsession.

I hate being "that fan" but even after all this time it's a little irritating how little effort Jason makes to explain why things are the way they are in this game and lets Brad dismiss them as "It's Monster Hunter..." This is a poor excuse to wave away what is usually very deliberate design choices.

Specifically: the ability to start the "same quest" and have it be the "wrong quest" is because there are reasons why you would want to have people in your gathering hall separated into different quests, and/or not have to drag the entire party with you (i.e. someone needs to go on a quick gathering mission solo for a material).

Also the reason why they don't just let you have a map by default is because the one they give you in the supply box is TRAINING WHEELS. At higher rank they stop giving it to you and it tests your prior knowledge of the map. Further still, not only do you not have access to the map, but they spawn you in a random area of the map to further test your knowledge. Like everything in that supply box, it's only meant to aid new hunters, not to just be freebies to help play the game for you forever. Don't get used to getting a free supply of traps and tranquil bombs whenever you need to capture a monster too...

This might be the best "Best of" this E3 was so amazing. The EA weed stuff still cracks me up just thinking about it. Props to the celebs in attendance for saving what would have been yet another awful forced esports marketing disaster and ofc the GB guys for recognizing the hilarity where most other gaming sites would have glossed right over it.
