Top 10 Games Played in 2014

Note the title...it's important. I played very little new releases and very little games in general this year.

  • How? How?! HOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW?! How can Platinum keep this shit up?! When my only complaint against your game is that it's not quite as good as it's predecessor, a game I consider to be one of the best games ever made, you have done no wrong. Maybe I would have liked to have seen more of Inferno? No, it was totally done super well in the game. Ummmm....it's...it's just really good...play it. If you've already played it, play it again...

  • Literally my only complaint with this game is I wish there was a Subspace Emissary like single player but otherwise, this is about as good as Melee to me. Get hyped!

  • I came out of Ground Zeroes somehow 10 times more excited for Phantom Pain. The gameplay is basically perfect and with the footage released of Phantom Pain, it's shaping up to be the best playing MGS by far. I put like 12 hours into this game: exploring and replaying missions for better ranks. Worth every penny to me.

  • Yep, it's not Dark Souls 1. It's still pretty fucking good.

  • Controls worked for me...

  • First real Pokemon game I decided to get into. Have yet to beat it but enjoyed it tons. I like me some fire types.

  • Replayed the Ultimate Edition with all the DLC on PC...damn good game, enjoyed it way more than I did the first time through now that it wasn't running at 10 frames per second.

  • Best version of SF4, it's also EVERY version of SF4. All the new characters are pretty awesome, I especially enjoy playing Rolento and Poison.

  • Holy shit, Capcom actually does kinda know how to make a good RE game. I am fucking SHOCKED. Revelations is solid. No, it is not a return to survival horror like it claims to be it is closer to RE4 in terms of action which is good! I wish more time was spent adjusting the controls for consoles because there's a significant amount of dead zone in the aiming which bugs the hell out of me. But once you get used to it, it's fine but that's just to say it doesn't play as well RE4 or 5. The story somehow the most ridiculous story of the canon RE games...okay, it's maybe a tie with RE6 but it's still ridiculous and not in a good way. What's really great about this game is Raid mode, which is basically a new version of RE3's Mercenaries mode but with upgrades and leveling! And the way they handle characters is interesting in that different characters have different strengths i.e. Jill is good with Handguns and machineguns, Chris is good with shotguns and snipers. Then there's different costumes that sway their strengths in different ways.

  • So this is based on my 30 hour save file in which I did not beat the game. This game has one huge problem...around halfway(I think halfway) it gets boring as hell, I didn't even grind in this game, I did do all the sidequests and tried to get all the extra classes and I felt overleved for the game. And turning it on Hard doesn't really fix my problem. This being said, first bits are great, the characters are really great (turn it to Japanese VA for god's sake) and the story is your classic tale of a battle against an evil empire. It's got great music though.
