@bigjeffrey: I think that's even just Japan. The total is closer to 500k for worldwide, with 300k just passed in Japan. Last year they celebrated it passing 260k sales in Japan; so, this new milestone makes sense. Also, as far as I understand it(and it is disputed by some), the original Persona 4 for PS2 sold over 400k worldwide.

If I've misunderstood the sales numbers, someone please correct me, but I do believe that is the case. This certainly seems to be an exceptional success for them.

The only numbers I've been able to find on Persona 4 on PS2 are 820k. Link.

It's VGchartz, so take it how you will, but I would imagine it's not too far off.

In NA and Japan it sold like 400K copies.

That article is from 2009.

Yes but that is normally like 80 or 90% of life time sales.

That isn't always the case. For games with a short shelf life (franchises with frequent sequels) it is certainly true that most of the sales come in the first few months. However, that article is less than a year after US launch of P4, and there hasn't been a proper entry in the series since. I feel pretty confident that several hundred thousand more copies were sold between then and now.

I prefer creamy peanut butter and marshmallow fluff. If there is no fluff on hand, I typically prefer grape jelly. I also don't mind chunky peanut butter if I'm in the right mood.

It's not a 1 to 1 comparison. I'd Dishonored has a little bit of Deus Ex, Thief, and Bioshock in it's DNA, but isn't exactly like any one of those series'.

@ll_exile_ll: I think VC2 is actually set at a high school. VC1 doesn't have that though.

I wasn't aware of that. I don't have a PSP, so I never had a chance to play the sequel. I had always wondered what the second was about though, since the first game is a pretty complete story without much room for a sequel.

Ok, glad so many of you responded and a lot of expected answers but I see

Valkyria Chronicles

poping up alot. I played some on my friends PSP and I'm totally itching for some kind of XCOMesque game.

I could go without the all japanese/highschool/teen drama that I'm under the impression that game has :P

I think I'll give it a shot. Thanks everyone ^_^

Any more obscure really good PSN games I should watch for?

Noby Noby Boy

?? You can buy and download and play PSP games on your PS3 right? Any good PSP games you would recommend for my PS3?

Valkyria Chronciles doesn't have any "Japanese teen drama" as you put it. It's a wartime story focusing on a cast of half a dozen or so characters and how they are each dealing with the war that has come to their small country. There is romance (which is done fairly well) and some eye rolling moments (Hans is the worst), but it's much more political intrigue, race relations, and secret history than it is teen drama.

I love how they say "get the facts" like there's all this misinformation out there. Exactly who's fault is that, Microsoft?

I view the direction of the Witcher series similarily to how the first two Mass Effect games turned out.

The first game sticks closer to more established and traditional RPG design and mechanics and is deeper in a lot of aspects than the second game, but is a bit rough around the edges with clunky animations, overly complex combat, and poor visuals.

The sequel has vastly superior production values, visuals, polish, and more immediate action game quality gameplay. Some of the depth and complexity of the original was lost (and they fucked up dice), but top to bottom it is simply a better game.

The story in both games is fantastic. You don't necisiarly need to play the first to follow the plot of the second, but it's a great way to introduce you the characters and the world. If you can put up with some jank in what is otherwise a damn good game, start with the first.

Yeah, I've gotten absorbed in games as much as the next person, but most of you aren't "addicted" to anything. Unless it's negatively affecting your life in serious ways, there is nothing wrong with choosing to spend your free time with one specific game rather than many games.

Would you call someone "addicted to TV" if they chose to spend all their free time each day watching TV?
