Finished up getting 1000/1000 for the game yesterday, it felt really fucking good. Total playtime was 170 hours or so (on that character). Ended up at SL 173. Next thing I'm gunna do is upgrade 1 of everything to it's highest potential and work my way towards SL 250. This was quite easily my GotY 2011.
Also, apparently mimics have some kind of rare headgear drop that turns your head into a chest? Anyone found one of those?
It is a VERY rare drop, and not all the mimics will drop it, although off the top of my head (haHA!) I can't think of which one you have to get it from. It increases your item discovery by an additional 200 but is constantly draining your health while equipped, and will kill you (I believe).
I haven't really decided on anything that I've stuck with for more than several hours except my current load: Full Darkwraith armor set at +5, Greatsheild of Artorias +5, Black Knight Greataxe +5, secondary moving between Quelana's Flame +5, Fire Avelyn +5 with lightning bolts, and Darkmoon catalyst for things like TWoP and WotG. Works phenomenal for clearing anything in game, and pretty decent for PvP, although changing the helm to Mask of the Child and legs to Smough's seems to work a little better in that respect. I really wish you could upgrade stuff like Smough's armor, being able to roll around like a ninja in full Smough's makes people really freaking nervous :)
I've played Demon's Souls a rediculous amount and haven't gotten too far in it, probably around halfway through when all is said and done, something about the limitations of the game and my actions while playing it that get me killed constantly. Still, enjoyed my time with it. Dark Souls I had a vendetta against because of my failure to beat Demon's, and I'm 3 achievements away from 1000/1000 on this game. It's better in every way than Demon's Souls, there's simply no question about that. Plus it's on a system where the online isn't utter garbage.
That one I believe is a Greatsword Black Knight, in which case yeah there are plenty of opportunities to get his worthless sword later. If you're that early in the game I wouldn't worry about trying to wield it any time soon, anyhow.
OH!!! Ok thanks, that reminded me that I didn't get the True Greatsword of Artorias yet. I have the broken sword leveled up to +10 and ready to go, but I'm going to have to finish NG+ and go beat Sif a 3rd time to get that. Fuck thats going to take longer than I'd wanted. Thanks though for reminding me about it.
Obviously since I'm asking about achievements I'm playing this on 360, I'm just trying to clean up the rest of what I have left to get the 1000/1000. I have been working towards getting all the unique weapons and I had 1 left to go: the Grant. So I got down to TotG and got through it no problem, had Paladin Leroy invade and killed him, got the Grant and... well, nothing. I've read and re-read the list of weapons required to get the achievement, and that was the last one I needed. Has anyone else had problems getting that achievement to pop? Kinda sucks when I'm getting so close to finishing it all and then something like this happens, hopefully I just need to do something silly like walk into a different area or go kill something real quick. It was definitely a little upsetting.
