@irishdoom: You forgot to expand upon the reason the WRT54GL is so popular: it has the ability to make use of free third-party firmware that vastly expands its abilities. It's basically a $300 router for $50.
As far as WiFi compatibility goes, it's an established cross-platform standard from the IEEE, 802.11. You really aren't missing out on much by not getting an Apple router.
@Fripplebubby: The flying isn't bad, my only complaint being that there is no rudder control, so all of your turns have to be banking and you can't counteract sideslip. Nevertheless, I like flying around in the game. The Pell Silverbolt 6 (the tiny plane in my pictures) is unarmed but ridiculously maneuverable and fast.
I like the helicopters as well, but they're a little slow. Unfortunately there's no way to trade altitude for speed like you should be able to. Still, fun to hijack a helicopter that's been called in on you then go on a rampage with it.
Cars are pretty fun (I've driven them nearly 200km so far) but you probably want an analog control for them. Digital controls (e.g. keyboard) will break your traction every time you try to turn. I mostly use a 360 controller for this game just because pretty much everything except shooting really asks for analog control.
Overall I'd say that there are a bunch of compromises in the game but the sheer sandbox ridiculousness makes up for it. I'm going to try to assassinate a colonel at some point by flying an airliner with an armored truck attached and dropping it like a bomb.
" It's on your account for as long as the account is yours. Some games are limited to a certain number of downloads I believe, this will be stated on the game download. "
The downloads are not limited, but some may have third-party DRM like SecuROM that has an activation limit. If you hit that activation limit, then you'll have to contact the publisher of that game for more activations.
There are three antiaircraft cannons on the map. Use the two that make sense (your base, center).
Snipers on that map never seem to notice anybody in the middle anyway. I've sat in the middle the entire round just keeping the enemy helicopter down (obviously that was a more...shall we say "special..." team.)
@Belonpopo: I know you said PMs but it's not like it's a terribly private thing.
One client for everything, the client downloads content for any zones you're going into. The first time you go into the game, it may take 5-20 minutes depending on your connection to get the initial content:
If you don't want to wait between areas to download, you can add a command line argument, -image, to download the entire content using the updater (it will then exit without launching the game).
Assault: SIG 550, Daewoo K2 (although I guess this could be redundant with the M16), OC-14 Groza Engineer: MC 51 (ok, sort of a joke, all it is is a shortened G3), PP-19 Bizon Medic: Do they actually need something new? Maybe an RPK with 40-round magazine for faster reloading for less ammo per mag. Recon: They also seem so totally decked out in excess. I can't think of anything that might not be redundant or derivative. I guess the M14 DMR comes to mind. General: Mk. 12 Mod. 0 SPR, SPAS-15 (not to be confused with the SPAS-12) or Saiga. Handgun: Walther P99, Colt Python .357
I admittedly didn't get to play too much CTF4 online, but I intended it more as an example that games or at least gametypes with more than two teams have been created.
