They need to follow in the footsteps of Sonic for the DS. Keep the original Sonic moments 2D with updated graphics and anything else can go 3D. Do that for the consoles and they will see a comeback for Sonic.
Bottom line is that as long as game companies run off people's misconception that higher priced games are of higher quality and lower priced games are of lower quality, they can jack up the prices with that excuse and people will unfortunately suck on it. Another user here said it right; there are great freeware going around and they are of higher quality than some of the retail stuff.
You can't tell me that a company as HUGE and as RICH as Microsoft can't spend the AVERAGE amount of money in testing and R&D like Sony and Nintendo and any other company that uses a disc drive to make a product that actually resists "everyday average use". Take Jeff's comment about his CD player. IT FELL and it ruined the disc, it didn't get ruined while moving it around. Now some people will argue that it's built that way because it's portable, but no. Have you ever heard of cases where other consoles, current and past that used a disc drive that would ruin the discs when you wobble the console a bit? I have a PS2 and sometimes I accidentally move it while on and NOTHING HAPPENED. I can probably wobble it up and down and the discs would be fine. I'm sorry to all you 360 fan boys out there but Microsoft is so cheap to just write in the manual "don't move it while operating" instead of spending a few cents per console to fix the problem. There are cases where the discs would get scratched WITHOUT moving the console at all. Well Microsoft, why don't you get up to speed on AVERAGE BUILD QUALITY rather than fucking liying right in our faces?
If BioWare does pull this off and keeps their promises and backs up their boasting, this may be the first MMO game with subscription that I will actually play.
I agree with GIVEMEREPLAY's first comment. The way I see it is some people pirate the game just to check it out. Sometimes the demo is not enough, and there have been a lot of instances like that. If someone likes the game he or she has downloaded, then they will be compelled to buy the retail copy, plus any official expansions and patches etc. that person will enjoy. Pirating in this respect can be positive advertising. Always remember the key rule: if you like a game you've played a bit (at friends, pirated, or demo), then give the people who made the game their due credits by buying the game. This encourages them to make even better games you will enjoy. Kudos to Ubisoft for not adding any of that PC killer called DRM!!!
