@p4ddym1607 said: "How could they make it difficult without it being 'annoying' to you personally?"I don't know. I am not a game developer. But there are ways to make a game harder, and more challenging, without making it annoying. The sad thing about shooters, the only difference between the difficulty settings, is basically the developers going in and adjusting a slider. Making it to where an enemy soldier can smoke ...

I've found that in MW2, as well as the last two Call of Duty games, the hardest difficulty isn't really ever "hard" perse. It's more just annoying. Which sucks because, it's basically just "throw yourself at this level enough times until you get through it." The first 50 times you do a level, the enemy AI might one shot you perfectly every time, or toss 60 grenades at you all ...

  • I mean really, this is basically every online multiplayer game on a console these days. It's pretty much the entire younger generation, to be honest. Just ask the douchebag 16 year olds that hang out in the parking lot of McDonalds in my town, leaning on the front of their lowered Ford Mustang (which their parents probably bought for them in the first place), putting out the "vibe" because they ...

I'm at 1.35 right now, but that's because I've been screwing around with unfamiliar weapons, and trying to figure out how to make the Riot Shield work (seems pretty broken to me). Once I actually settle on a loadout, and stick with it, I'll probably get up to 2.00 or so. That's what I was at in CoD4.  I think anyone with a 3 K/D ratio or above are people ...

  • I started laughing at the point where he said "I mean, CoD4 was ok, but this?" because it's basically the same damn game. Not a ton has been changed, and what has been changed was all for the better. So yeah, doesn't really make sense how you can like CoD4, and not like MW2.  Maaaybe (and I'm just guessing here) he got to the airport level, and it really disturbed ...

So I find myself in a Sabotage game today, and I guess I should have known bad things were about to happen when everyone on my team was level 5-10, and everyone on the opposing team was in their 50's. Long story short, the game ends with everyone on my team getting 60 deaths, and only 10-15 kills, and people on their team ending up with 60-70 kills, and anywhere ...

How do people always find a way to bunk the leaderboards in pretty much every type of game? MW2 has only been out what? Not quite a week? And there are already players at the top of the leaderboards with 500+ kill streaks, 50 to 1 kill death ratios, 100% accuracy, etc. None of which is honestly achievable. • I think there are certain game modes where it's more likely for someone to get a 25 kill streak (ie. Ground War), but it's still going to be extremely rare. Then you have to consider; how many people are going to actually bother taking that as one of their kill streaks on the off chance that they might possibly get 25 in a row? Not very many, I'd wager. I ...

So I came across a pretty amazing creation that I feel I must share with as many people as possible. It's called " playon," and for all intents and purposes it's Netflix streaming for any and all console (which I know the 360 already has). What makes this even better, is that it also allows you to stream directly from Hulu, CBS, Youtube, and a few other things, exactly like how you would stream from Netflix.

On their website, they have a video set up for each console (PS3, Wii, 360) which gives you a good idea of how it works. From what I understand, the application costs a one-time fee of $39.99. However, there is a 14-day trial that seems to work exactly like the full product, which is what I'm currently using.
After only messing with it for about a day, I think I'm already sold on it. It's basically any and every kind of streaming you could possibly want on your console, and the quality is pretty high. It's no where near Blu-ray quality, but I'd say it's just as good as a DVD. At least, the stuff I've watched so far has been DVD quality.

The setup was about as easy as installing a game. It damn near only took me about 5 clicks of my mouse, punched in my Netflix/Hulu/Youtube info, then I powered up my PS3 and there it was. Working perfectly. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I currently am.

Maybe this is old news, I don't know, but after watching Brad's latest interview with fourzerotwo, I'm thinking Martyrdom isn't going to be in Modern Warfare 2. He seemed to imply that they took it out, and replaced it with their "Death Streak" system. Which really has me bummed.
Some of my most enjoyable kill streaks in Call of Duty 4 were because of Martyrdom. I'd rush in, kill 3-4 guys with my gun, kill a couple more with a thrown grenade, then die in the middle of 2-3 more guys, drop a Martyrdom grenade, and promptly kill them also. This happened all the time for me, and led to a pretty decent Kill/Death ratio.

Now, I am perfectly aware of what most people think of Martyrdom. They call it a "noob" perk, or something to that effect. They label it as something only worthless players use. Imply that it's a handicap for a bad player. Etc... That just makes me want to use it even more. I know this is going to make me sound like an ass, but nothing brought me greater enjoyment, or made me laugh harder, then when I'd kill someone with Martyrdom, and they'd get foaming at the mouth angry about it. Then send me a hate filled message. Cracked me straight up.  That's also the reason I used the grenade launcher all the time, or "noobtube" as most call it. Because it just infuriated some people.
NEWSFLASH! I'm always going to make a point of finding out what weapon/tactic people hate the most, and then do nothing but use that. Simply because you whine about it all the time, and that just makes me want to use it even more. You can label it as whatever you want, but I actually think of it like psychological warfare to a degree. Odds are, if I get you extremely pissed off, and blind with rage, you aren't going to play so well, and I'm going to win. Mission accomplished.

So anywho. Long story short. I like Martyrdom. It resulted in some hilarious, really priceless moments in CoD4 for me, and I'll be sad if it doesn't show up in MW2.

I recently came across what I feel is a fantastic article. So many video game journalists really have no clue what they are talking about, and regularly force-feed gullible people with unproven information about the 360 vs. PS3 "war." The main thing being PS3 sales. Implying that it's "dead last" in terms of sales... WRONG!

http://www.smgamers.com/?p=948

The main thing to take away from the above article is the fact that the 360 has had a full year to take the lead. It came out an entire year before the PS3. Yet people try and act oblivious to this fact, and do a 1 to 1 comparison of the consoles anyway. Which leads to so many people being confused, and outright mislead about the current state of consoles. There are fools out there that say the 360 is vastly superior to the PS3, that the PS3 is a failure, etc. Albeit, there are just as many people that say the same thing about the PS3. Both views are complete nonsense. The PS3 and the 360 couldn't be more neck and neck, and personally, whether you like it or not, the fact that the PS3 has caught up to the 360 despite that one year difference is a testament to the consoles strength.

Really, my biggest beef is simply that no one ever has their facts straight. Or they choose to outright ignore any fact that might mar the "head in the clouds" view they have of their chosen console. Both are damn near even. Accept that fact. Does it really even matter to begin with? 5 years from now, both consoles will still be receiving new games, and still be healthy (most likely). Isn't that what's important?

I’ve always been amazed, and intrigued by how video games have effected other forms of media. Be it movies, music, television, etc. What I like even more are the small side projects that occasionally pop up over the internet. Machinima like Red vs. Blue, to things like Pure Pwnage which follows the life of a fictional character obsessed with competitive gaming. I think these fan created shows really capture how deeply video games are ingrained in our culture.
You see games in everything nowadays. Just the other day i was marveling over the fact that the entire country of Japan practically shuts down when a new Dragon Quest game is being released. Even in the States, people will line up outside of game stores, even at midnight, just for the chance to play a game a bit early. You also have shows like Big Bang Theory, where they regularly talk about one game or another. Or you’ll be watching a movie, and see some kid playing a PSP or DS in the background. These types of things leave me continuously anxious to see what it will be like in another 10 years.

One of the more recent pieces of nonsense I’ve been into is a internet show called “There Will be Brawl,” and it uses a “What If” storyline. It’s a pretty recent creation. They are only up to their 6th episode, which was just released not long ago. I encourage you to check it out. Also, feel free to let me know about any other similar internet creations you guys might know about.

Hurray! My first blog post. Let's see what happens...

So, i sit here contemplating whether or not i want to purchase the new Burnout Paradise DLC (Big Surf Island), and i find that part of my dilemma is a result of not really knowing what's going to happen with Burnout DLC once Burnout Paradise 2 comes out. And really, this probably applies to most DLC.

So let's say i buy all this Burnout DLC that i don't have, which adds up to over 50 dollars, and then 6 months from now a new Burnout game comes out. Naturally, most people are going to quit playing the old Burnout, and start playing the new. Now, the big thing about Burnout Paradise, as well as most of it's DLC, is that it really relies on having other people to play with. For example, the Cops & Robbers DLC is absolutely pointless without people online to play with. So once everyone makes the shift over to Paradise 2, that's essentially money down the toilet right? As no one will be playing that DLC anymore, and likely not playing the entire game either.

This seems to be a problem in many games, and i worry about it not only because sequels for successful games usually kill the prior installments, but i also wonder what happens when the PS4 comes out? What happens to all this DLC we've bought? Most of the DLC we buy is for multiplayer stuff (Map packs for FPS games, etc.), so what happens when these games become a proverbial ghost town? What happens when we trade up to a PS4, or Xbox 720? Is all this DLC just going to amount to burnt money?
I realize there is some merit to the argument "You pay to have fun now, not later" or "You are having fun with it now right? That is all that matters." Thing of it is, i'm the type of person that buys games and consoles to play them forever. Even decades from now. Hell, not two weeks ago i busted out my old Nintendo (which still works perfectly), and had a retro game night with my friends. So i can't help but feel kinda bummed when i think about the fact that most of the DLC and other content i've paid for will most likely not even be useable a decade from now.

What do you guys think? Should i just go ahead and buy DLC because i can have fun with it right now, and simply ignore the future?
