I wasn't as big a fan of the Citadel DLC as everyone else seemed to be, so I wouldn't think playing it last would make you come away from the game with a different feeling. But I also don't like coming back after the end of a game to do pre-ending DLC, so that might be affecting my opinion.
@bludgeonparagon: There is a scene in this game that blows up that view of Leng. At least for me, that's where he went from "they made a dumb and goofy space ninja" to "they actually like giving this guy screen time, huh?"
@bladededge: I might be misinterpreting the ending, but beyond what was already mentioned I think the ending is also a meta reflection on the experience of the developers in making this game for 7 years. And not in a cheap way, it is also valid for both the player of this specific game and for the creative process in general.
@epidehl: It's more like Portal than Undertale in that respect, if that means anything to you. It's definitely possible to build it up to the point where it won't make an impact but...I think the threshold is much higher.
Regarding the Wipeout/F-Zero influences: the ships and handling are clearly based on Wipeout, but I think the tracks owe as much to F-Zero GX as anything else. I did not play Wipeout religiously but I don't remember the tracks being as overtly fucked as in Redout, while F-Zero threw this bullshit at you constantly:
