Ok imma break it down here check it! Time travel is a resource like minerals/wood/gas/whatevs but instead of collecting it, it recharges over time so games don't become circle jerks. So YOU as the player can time travel and change stuff that existed in the past but you can also time travel specific units to the past and take for example if you grab some units and take them back in time, the battle continues in the present at the same time and if the units you brought back in time take damage, that damage ripple forward in time and they keep that damage in the present. Or if you as the player goes back in time and destroys one of your enemies structures, that structure will not exist in the present. Watch the movie Primer.
