Most Anticipated Games of 2016 as of 1/8/16

2016 has just begun, and even though 2015 was an amazing year for video games (some may say one of the best) there is a ton to be exited about in the new year. Here's my most anticipated games of 2016, at least until everything changes at E3.

List items

  • Persona 4 is one of the greatest games of all time. I could not be more ready to throw myself into 100+ hours of whatever tale of supernatural anime teens Atlus throws at me.

  • Character design goes a long way with me (see Street Fighter V). Good visual characters can inform so much about the world and the personalities of characters without actually verbally explaining everything. Overwatch looks like it not only has fantastic character designs but extremely balanced class based combat ALA Team Fortress 2.

  • 2015 was the year of the AAA open world game and personally by the end I longed for the the focused linear AAA productions of old. Enter A Thief's End. Uncharted 2 is one of my all time favs and I just can't wait to sit back and enjoy the ride as we witness how it all ends for ol' Nate Drake.

  • I really enjoyed the combat in the demo and for some reason I'm 100% to enjoy a melodramatic anime ass FF story right now.

  • The first level of the original Doom is one of my favorite video game sequences ever. The midi guitar solo's, the speed, the level design. Doom 3 didn't really capture the spirit of all that and I'm hopeful this game brings the series back to its roots with a fresh 2016 coat of paint.

  • What is Firewatch? Joking aside, a game that marries the storytelling style of a Gone Home with the visual stylings of Olly Moss seems like a match made in heaven.

  • Listen, this game will probably not be released in 2016, right now thats what Bioware is saying, but I have my doubts. Regardless its a new Mass Effect, and if they keep their promise I'll play it.

  • There is no series like Hitman. No other game has even attempted to combine Hitman's mending of action and puzzle solving. It's so unique I'll play any new Hitman game.

  • I love the SNES and N64 Star Fox games. The formula may seem a little dated in 2016 but its Platinum, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

  • I'm awful at street fighter. Absolutely abysmal.I can't even do a dragon punch consistently. But the character designs are so good in this game and it looks so fun to play, that I will most definitely be attempting dragon punches yet again.
