I'm going to have to go along with Resident Evil. I still remember printing out a huge walkthrough from the internet and going through the game as a kid.

My other favorites include...

Syphon Filter

Metal Gear Solid

Ape Escape

Legend of Dragoon

Final Fantasy VII

Jet Moto

Crash Bandicoot

Crash Team Racing

Those are some of my favorites.

I've heard good things about Blur as well. I'll try to check Blur and Split/Second out. I really wish something similar to TrackMania was on consoles.

@Andorski: Is Apocalypse a worthy upgrade? I still have Pacific Rift, but sort of hit a brick wall in terms of difficulty once I got about 3/4 of the way through the game.

Would anybody say this is worth picking up now that it's soon to be free to play? Is it worth the initial $50-60 to enter?

@skadave: Is Split Second a fairly lengthy experience? I remember it getting fairly positive reviews.

@Commisar123: Jeff's review is what made me make this post, oddly enough.

TrackMania 2 looks like an absolute blast, the only problem is I don't own a PC at the moment, just my MacBook.

I recently jumped back into Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and rekindled my love for arcade races. I find myself enjoying those even more than the traditional racing sims, albeit I did enjoy GT and Forza. I was also a huge fan of ModNation Racers.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on arcade racers from the part year or so that would be worth checking out? I've been keeping an eye on "The Run" as well to see how it turns out.

Thanks!

I think this may be the game I'm most excited for this holiday season. Can't wait.

I don't think it would work to be honest.

The main draw of the game for me is Batman and also learning about all the other characters like his enemies. It could work as a regular action game, but I don't think the appeal would be there with a bunch of generic enemies.

@alexisg:

I'm really debating about picking this game up. The classic teams from the 90's is what is definitely drawing me in. I tried out last years game for all the Michael Jordan stuff (I'm from Chicago) and found myself completely overwhelmed. I withdrew back to NBA Jam.

I really want to give this series another shot...I'll try some of the tips you suggested Alex.

Thanks!
