@imsh_pl: " Also, stalkers win a fight vs roaches easily. That 'lose to workers' statement is really bold too, imo."
Stalkers are flat out destroyed by Roaches of EQUAL COST. Sure if you send even numbers the Stalkers come out slightly ahead, but a Stalker costs 2x what a roach does. When out numbered 2-1 Stalkers get smashed quickly. The fight isn't even close, Stalkers get annihilated.
As for workers beating them for cost, ya in practical terms that is not true. But take 4 works and send them on a stalker (without micro) and the workers win. Things turn for the stalkers when numbers grow, but the point still stands.
Seems like a lot of people are not aware of the known issues with some Macs that have Nvidia Cards and SC2. It will utterly kill performance on systems that should easily be able to handle it otherwise.
To minimize the problem, turn all of the graphics effects to low (large resolution is fine, it is only the effects that trigger the leak). If things get slow, quit the game and open it back up.
Blizzard claims both them and Apple are working on fixing the issues, so until then we are stuck with lower settings than we should be.
Bootcamp is fine for gaming, I have never had an issue on any game under bootcamp. You are running a full on copy of windows natively on your hardware, there is no emulation or performance hit involved.
That said, buy the Mac version. The more copies of that they sell, the more likely they are to port future games. Bootcamp works just fine, but having to boot into windows for every game is a pain.
This kind of sucks. I understand why they are doing it, but it sucks to have old games lose features.
Crimson Skies, Mech Assault, and Wolfenstien are all still great games. Though I admit its been quite some time since I played any of them. Guess its time to dig them out and fire them up.
