GOTY 2016
..I might tinker a bit more.
..I might tinker a bit more.
I spent a solid five months playing this game and enjoyed each bit fo that time. I don't think they ever tuned online/coop multiplayer right; but, the campaign was riveting with gameplay and story. I enjoyed the whole package enough to make it my top pick for this year.
I really found this game the to be perfect amount of time to tell its small story. I liked the premise and was touched by the execution. Is there more to say than that? Maybe, that ist was a somber tale you don't often get in games. There was no happy ending to find, there was no way to solve or fix those broken souls.
The story was over...and -nobody worth listening to- asked for another game! This game was likely a mistake to make, for any other team it would have been a fatal mistake. Yet, that sentiment just proves even Naughtydog's mistakes turn out 100% better than other companies games. I'd rate this only the "4rd best" Uncharted game, but that is still fantastic enough to make make my top-10.
Wow, talk about a slide to home plate late to score a late run in overtime! This is without a doubt a Fumito Ueda game, and I think players can STILL see why it was saved time after time. I am so glad Sony was there to nurture the little spark of creativity until it could burn.
Proof that there is a way to make a episodic Triple-A-effort game. It is Hitman and it does its 'hit man' stuff really well.
This is like a 'golden age' type of gameplay, brought into the modern era of game systems and displays. A solid demonstration of 'game play' over amazing realistic 3d visualizes.
I think Polygon nailed it, "...Oxenfree does NOT live up to its potential, but has a story worth telling." After last years "Life Is Strange," I had a fix for something like this game - a coming of age tale. However, it could/should have been better, it could/should have been tighter; but it was a nice experience amid the 'bombast' of this year.
I better game than the first one for sure... But, it truly lacks nerve to commit to it ideas/ideals. I think they should have pulled all guns out of the game and made all these 'hacker' characters hack. All the kids would have whined, but I think using you brain against people with guns would have been a lot more fun and a lot better game in the end. A silly game...but I think Ubisoft is still missing the point.
A really solid comeback for a platformer character that likely should not have come back at all. The movie was weak and even dull for kids, but the game was surprisingly solid. Dare I say, the best Ratchet & Clank game ever? Yes, I dare to say that, because it was a well put together game where nobody expected one at all.
I still don't think these are "Tomb Raider" games, they lack the puzzles and they are far too much about murder. Their tone and use of Lara as a character leaves TOO MUCH to be desired. But, Crystal makes a good games, and I think they hit upon a workable action adventure format of their own...it just should be called "Betty Jones : 20-Something Serial Killer".
