  • I totally expected this game to be a good looking stinker, but it delivered hardcore. I really enjoyed the mixed styles of this game - the Metroid-esque exploration and progression, the great brawler fighting, the fantastic storytelling...it's all extremely solid. And it's GORGEOUS too. That Unreal Engine really does wonders.

  • Just beat this recently (in 2011) and it's pretty outstanding. There were a few nagging spots where it got ridiculously cheap and frustrating, but it was a fantastic experience with a cool story and great characters.

  • This game gave me a serious love for the Italian language, and I also think it delivered on the promise the incredibly flawed original had. The story is great, though I really kinda wish there wasn't the weird sci-fi future stuff. I'd enjoy it if it was purely historical fiction. I love the fluid navigation gameplay.

  • This is such a charming return to form after the problematic "Partners in Time." It has so much variety and fun gameplay to be found, especially when controlling Bowser. I enjoyed it immensely.

  • It's a great Metroid-style game that shows just how genius that style of game is. It's still not as good as any of the Metroid games, but it's better than the Castlevania games of this ilk, and it's very well made. Not perfect, but great.

  • I have a great love for a lot of The Beatles' music, and the sets, effects, character models and progressions are all great here. It's a great time for anybody, though for overall party game status regular Rock Band 2 is much better.

  • Part of a strong year for Capcom, RE5 is a really solid action game that demands constant replay. But dude, it's nowhere near as good as the amazingly almost-perfect RE4. Sorry, but it's not scary at all and its action is not quite up to snuff. I would have preferred it to be completely solo, too, as the co-op is a waste of time and the AI is annoying. Nonetheless, this game is fantastic.

  • Writing this from THE FUTURE! It's nowhere near as polished and amazing as its successor Dark Souls, but Demon's Souls has a lot to offer in atmosphere, challenging enemies, and interesting RPG elements. The levels are mostly kind of bad, the bosses are kinda weak, but hey...it led to Dark Souls so I can't fault it too bad!

  • It's frustrating just like Punch-Out of old, and it's also really well made. It's got some serious UI issues, but beyond that I find the controls and gameplay to be high quality.

  • This is the first time I've legitimately enjoyed the Ratchet & Clank series. It looks great, has loads of variety and occasionally gets some Mario Galaxy vibe in its level design. I can appreciate that.
