I'm not sure who my main is yet, but story mode is definitely showing me who I _won't_ main. (Looking at you Takeda and Kotal Khan) I definitely prefer rushdown characters. My mains in SF4 were Cammy, Chun and Abel.

Mileena, Ermac and Cassie have me moderately interested, but we'll see.

Hey Duders,

For the past 10 years, I've been involved with a Canadian geek festival, where I've had a hand in planning and executing the gaming events for congoers. If you've ever been to the PAX free play gaming rooms/LAN, think that, except on a smaller scale, and with less budget. Now, I'm, just about to turn 30, and I'm thinking of striking out on my own and trying to possibly go into business for myself and, with some help, start my own video gaming con. I'm not quite sure what form it will take at this point, and that's partially why I made this post; it's always that first step that's the hardest, and it's never one I'm usually sure how to take.

I'm posting this on the GB forums because while I'm usually content to lurk, the GB community is very close to my heart; I really care what you guys think! I may have some avenues open to me regarding sponsorship, but I really need some input before I set realistic goals. Apologies if this isn't the right place to put this, but I really need a sounding board before I feel confident enough to put things in motion.

Sorry, but...What the hell did he think was going to happen? I feel bad for the rest of his team, but maybe they're better off...

This was the best thing I have read on the topic. Fair, balanced, and well thought out. This is why I paid for a premium sub. But of the whole piece, this part struck me the most:

"Regardless of your own personal politics, stop letting GamerGate be in your way."

As someone passionate about games, I have been so, so frustrated at the way this movement has become the Tea Party of videogames. I was on Reddit's Vita subreddit the other day, and someone had actually posted a link accusing a publication of deleting Vita posts. I immediately was called out as being a pro feminist shill who hates freedom of speech. Then, when I tried to draw a link to the harassment, I was immediately shouted down with circular logic about how the other side was being harassed too. I was beginning to feel like I was getting too old for the Internet, lamenting about how things were never this bad when I was coming up. I had forgotten the golden rule: Sometimes, the only way to win is not to play.

Still on the fence about pulling the trigger. I've heard so much conflicting info. On the one hand, I did enjoy the Alpha, and I do like the hybrid of FPS and RPG. On the other hand, if it's as boring and samey as people say, I might as well hold off.

I'm going to suggest @patrickklepek play Five Nights at Freddy's next SWS, that game is just completely terrifying. Perfect timing, as it just got a Steam release, and it's bite-sized enough to play in an episode.

Darn, I was hoping to go to Prime this year, bummed that I can't go to this. Will you guys be having a premium meetup at East next year, too?

I'm going through some tough times myself, Patrick, so I wanted to thank you for writing this. That bit about wanting to contribute something, that means a lot to me to read. I know it can't mean much from someone you've only met once (after your panel at PAX East this year), but you definitely have touched me with your contribution to our community. The work you do at GB, along with everyone has helped, and still is helping me through some tough times.

Thanks so much for everything.

Most of my thoughts have been covered by other posts so I'll leave those for now. The one issue here that I think no one else has mentioned is how hard are you trying to get the available jobs. It seems like you've only applied for a handful of these positions over a long period of time. You mention when Kotaku was hiring a few years back. Well Kotaku has definitely had more than one opening since a few years back. I'm pretty sure they had an opening a couple weeks ago. IGN had one too. Have you applied at all for any of those? How about anything that isn't a website that serves a nation wide audience? Your local paper has an entertainment section. There is probably a local entertainment magazine. They have writers who write about games. Even if those jobs are filled they might want to go on vacation at some point and need someone to fill in for a week or two. Get to know them. Game Informer and PC Gamer are both big organizations that take in unknown names. Most print magazines are, so get in while those dinosaurs still exist.

Honestly, I've been too discouraged until recently to think about giving things another go. It sounds dumb, but it's just the way I've been in the past.
