My coin was inside the folded pamphlet. The coin could easily have dropped out somewhere, maybe even before it arrived to you. Was your pamphlet closed with tape?
I don't think it would be any less of a game if it did have fast travel, but exploring the locations is a large part of the fun. I never felt like I needed it on my first playthough though the novelty will probably wear off on subsequent playthoughs.
It isn't as accessible as Mass Effect for sure but don't be turned off by the way the combat is presented in the prologue/tutorial. It already has a notorious reputation as being next to useless.
Bioware helped revive an entire genre of WRPGs in the 90's with games that were ahead of their time and are still modern and relevant. An argument could be made that CD Projekt simply follows an age-old design philosophy. The Witcher 2 is certainly in a different league to many of the RPGs of recent memory, but that's not saying much is it.
I love the comment in the Quick Look about the Witcher 2 pounding the shit out of Fable III. Not the best RPG of all time, but certainly a refreshing change from much of the junk people are trying to sell us these days.
I played TW1 in classic overhead, but the way the combat works in TW2 it would be awkward to be viewing form that far. It plays more like a third person action game. The camera does draw back a bit during combat so you can better see large groups and watch for enemies trying to flank you.
