My son started experimenting with Minecraft at 6. I can personally testify to the cognitive thinking benefits of playing that game. It will not necessarily be 'easy', but it's not easy for anyone starting out. It requires some concentration, and it'd be best played with you helping her learn some of the 'crafting' so that she can do basic things like make tools. The console version makes that even easier.

This is an absolutely amazing opportunity for a parent who is willing to put in a small amount of effort, and I have been consistently astounded at what my son has made or done.

Yes to Minecraft,

and Absolutely Yes if you are willing to participate a little.

I thoroughly enjoyed Edward, I thought both he and the supporting cast made a hell of a lot more sense than we've generally seen from the franchise, and only missed having a more developed urban locale to monkey about in.

is where that link should be headed. -.- Neither the link utility (with multiple attempts in every conceivable way) nor repeated edits have helped me to bring you this five seconds of humor.

Chrono Cross. Most interesting magic system (SHUT UP I LIKED IT), tons of characters and secrets, all sorts of choice-relevant stuff way before 'choice' was popular, and crazy in all the right ways. I can't love this game enough.

Xenogears was a mess after the beginning-ish, and Vagrant Story was more like a box-puzzle game (though with admittedly cool characters).

Hi. I'm relatively new to the forums, but I've been reading GiantBomb.com for years. (These guys and RPS are totally my virtual game-news homies)

I'm about to get back into WoW, so this seems like a prime opportunity to offer up myself as a Scroll of Resurrection candidate for someone who wants the schwag associated with renewal. In exchange, I'd like some (negotiable) in-game loot, primarily in the form of sweet, sweet gold. Yeah, that's right, I'm auctioning off my friendship. ;)

(Here's what I'm looking for in a)

Resurrect-or:

- A mature, thoughtful player. Don't be a dick.

- Preferrably someone in a helpful newbie-friendly guild (it's been 5 years or so since I played last)

- PVP server if possible (since I'll like-as-not move a character or two to that person's server, so I can know someone in-game)

About me: (all of these are probably lies except the last part)- I'm super awesome.

- I'm great at everything.

- I'm hilarious as all f---.

- I sound a lot like John C. Reilly.

Yeah, you heard me. No sane man woman or asexual sentient life form can refuse an offer like this. I'm already fantasizing about swimming around in a virtual money-bin for my (your) gold. I'll just sit here looking charming and potentially rich, like some sort of squishier Hedonism-bot. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv4Gui9hKCM because the link refuses to work)

(or just feel free to message me)

Yes.

Here's an example of why:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/19/science/bringing-a-virtual-brain-to-life.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

This is one of just dozens of articles on true AI that are hitting the mainstream, and it's not even a very recent example. (Just what Google threw at me first, not intending to make this a research-paper-level post)

It'll happen, and it may even happen during this generation. (Though I'm not really betting on a timeframe either way. Technology's growth is crazy unpredictable.)

Don't say anything negative at all about the GB crew or else your thread will be locked down and you might get suspended.

The mods sometimes have a stick up their ass, but I suppose that's why this place is as tame as it is.

Enjoy your stay.

There's one on every board.

Actually on most, there are way more than one.

So we're still under the negative asshole quota by like, dozens. I'm staying!

I'm also really new. I've posted on a few threads, but not actually introduced myself.

So... Hi. :)

I'll introduce myself on a proper topic at some point, maybe. I'm super mysterious like that.
