My answer is no, you already have experience so what do you have to gain from volunteering?

In my opinion too many companies just want free labor.

On the other hand you've been out of work for quite a while, so getting on the ladder anyway you can might be a good idea, but by the sound of it you've already tried that and it didn't work, so contrary to the first sentence I don't have a real answer.

One piece of advice though, judging by the way you write unnecessary details, cut the stuff that isn't necessary and get to the point. I've been guilty of doing the exact same thing over the years and it does not help one bit. You sound like you've been unemployed for ages and you focus too much on the negative.

@eskimo: I thought about that myself. I think they said somewhere that those years would be left to the imagination. I think it was on the reddit ama that they said it, but not sure.

Hate say it but that gore just looks out of place. I find it much more intense without heads blowing up and arms coming off.
