After Journey's release, I remember thinking there was a chance that the market would get flooded with trashy mtx-laden clones trying to do the artsy thing, without understanding any of it. Fortunately, this never really happened, and the "clones" we did get were actually very good (e.g. Abzu).
And now this. This is exactly what I expected from low-effort clones back then, and I don't really understand why it's coming out now. "Pay us a dollar and then you can wave at other players!"
Er, when did the Xmen turn into wacky, slap-sticky Looney-Tunes characters?
I think the success and popularity of the Deadpool movies are partly to blame. We'll have to wait and see how the MCU handles them in terms of the movies. Seems like this game is also just aimed at a younger crowd, and/or generally more "wacky" than the previous games were.
I know; you are missing my point. They used to call it "Rune: Subtitle" which often indicates a spin-off (which is—at best—what this is). They recently decided to call it "Rune: 2" because they realized that no one is really interested in this, and that the vast majority of Rune fans who found the game's youtube channel were immediately turned off by this "design."
Also this looks nothing like Rune. I mean I get it, its their game series etc, but this wasn't Rune. Expand on Rune and all that, but don't call it specifically Rune 2. Call it Rune: Ragnarok or something else.
I don't know if you're trolling, but that was exactly the plan, and it's why I left my original comment. At first this game was called Rune: Ragnarok, and now they're changing it, hoping to confuse the simple minded or the distracted into buying their garbage product. If you aren't trolling then you are right on the money my friend.
Also, they may have made Quiet Man but they also made the original Rune, so really who else would make the sequel?
Throughout the entire history of the studio, they've made 2 good games, both nearly 2 decades ago. One is Rune, and the other took 11 years to come out (and had already been worked on at a prior studio). Since then, besides making the worst Arkham game (while having 90 percent of the work done for them), everything else has been poop all the way down.
My point with the Quiet Man is that they have been making garbage for decades, and that QM is the latest example. What is your point with Rune? That they've made a good game 19 years ago and that therefore this one could be alright, despite their track record, and despite the above video evidence? You're right of course, it's not an impossibility.
I wish I could be as positive as you seem to be, and I ABSOLUTELY hope you are correct. Unfortunately, chances are Elden Ring will be more Rune than Rune 2.
@hassun: Arguably, it's still not getting a sequel. This isn't Rune, and it looks awful. The devs recently changed the name to "Rune 2" to trick more people into buying their vacuous survival game. It's disgusting.
Just to set the record straight, and prevent further misinformation in the comments regarding how slow puyo puyo ran (no, it's not the resolution):
The culprit is the refresh rate. For some reason, puyo on PC defaults to 24hz. This is also the cause for the crazy tearing. For people who own the game, simply change the refresh rate. They are listed with the resolutions, as is most often the case. If refresh rates don't show up, pick the bottom most entry of your resolution (there will be multiple 2160p, or 1080p entries).
Dan was the only one who made sense in regards to Donut County. I don't know if it's personal bias (I'm pretty sure they're friendly with the dev), or if some of the staff just has surprisingly bad taste in writing, but the dialog is just... garbage (fits the theme, I suppose).
"lol" says the raccoon. Oh Em Gee, so random!
Reminds me of a quote: "If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, [this] might impress me but I didn't, so it doesn't."
But hey, it was a very fun experience indeed, and while overrated, it didn't overstay it's welcome.
