Under-appreciated female character designs

List in progress

List items

  • Put a prim and proper schoolmarm in a G.L.O.W. outfit, and Miss Spencer is the result. Mistress Spencer, if you're nasty.

  • There's just something about Lien. She only appeared in the 3D Maximum Impact KOF games and didn't get much exposure, but I fell for her design the first time I saw it. Maybe it's the juxtaposition of the 1950's hairstyle with the unzipped leather catsuit leaving almost nothing to the imagination?

  • I've never played the .hack//G.U. games, but this character always caught my eye. I think it has something to do with having hair so big, it needs its own armor.

  • Alicia feels like the prototype for Bayonetta, made from FFX-2 Yuna wearing a goth pirate dress sphere. She was always kind of great, and writing this makes me regret I didn't give this ignored title more of my time. I should fix that at some point.

  • In a cruel twist of fate, the person I most wanted my Hawke to hook up with was his own sister.

  • Simple design, washed out art, and those cute little ears poking out from under limp hair. An innocent and ethereal waif. Long before Elizabeth begged to be rescued from the Songbird on Colombia, Yorda gave you a reason to save her by simply existing.

  • Does Flemeth count as DILF?

Oh. Oh, I just googled that. I meant "dragon", dammit. Dragon.

  • Jessie's understated office wear belies the fact that she may have the greatest presentation of cleavage in the history of gaming. She's still the gold standard.

  • A latecomer to the Dead or Alive party that fills the same role as Street Fighter's Sakura, her main connection to the series is her admiration for Bass Armstrong, and by extension his daughter Tina. She bears the distinction of being the biggest tomboy in the lineup, something that really makes her stand out and something that was really missing from the series. I'm a fan of this fan.

  • A lady should be wearing a fully practical suit of armor, but gaming being what it is, the tendency is to stick a girl in bikini "armor" instead. Charlotte represents a happy middle ground. Internal organs are protected without sacrificing mobility, and she can still rock some high-heeled boots.

  • Elongated, nimble, accentuated fluid motion. Elena stands out in a very large crowd of Capcom favorites with characters loved more for their nostalgia than commendable character design.
