God-fucking-dammit... What a terrible series of events.
I hope they execute those fucking gang members. No point in having human garbage like that clogging up the prison system further, and costing the taxpayers money.
@tehpickle: Yeah no need to kick yourself for this.. it sucks that you lost 75 pounds, but you're not the first person to be tricked this way and you won't be the last.
I've done stuff like this multiple times this generation. Developers should really make local multiplayer/co-op an option more often.
Coming from my perspective, sometimes I sell my old games to brick and mortar independent shops in my local area just to get a few extra bucks here and there, I never sell anything to GameStop because I can't get anything from them except store credit. It's not exactly like I NEED the handful of bucks that I get from selling to independent used game shops, But it's something that makes me feel like I'm getting some extra value out of my purchase. When I'm done with a handful of games or a console I can sell it to these places and usually get enough actual money to spend on other things. It's just a nice bonus, in my opinion, to the used game market -- and I don't mean GameStop.
I'd also like to mention that I buy old games for old consoles on occasion and if I can't do that with these new consoles after their lifespan is up, I would be very disappointed.
I would suggest not playing any video games for at least a week.. seriously, not even for a minute. Then after you think you've "fasted" for long enough try playing something again. I was going through a phase where even the thought of playing video games just upset me.. so I took a break and came back interested in gaming again.. to a degree at least.
Outside of the US, the set top box market is only just developing now. Seeing how both the Xbox One and PS4 can serve as a set top box, respectively media streaming hub, they really could penetrate the market way beyond what it is now. It all comes down to co-marketing with cable service providers, distributing heavily subsidized boxes to the broad public. 800$ smartphones are being distributed for *free*, if the consumer binds himself to a lenghty and expensive dataplan.
Expect many Xbox One and PS4 boxes being offered *gratis*, or at least dirtcheap, together with expensive dataplans. Hey - I might double down on my dataplan if I get a free box out of it.
This sounds like a really smart business move for Sony and Microsoft to make. I hope they're listening to what you just said.
But in seriousness, if the price is right, I would expect people buying these things as a new gadget replacement for their existing TV Tuner/BluRay/Multimedia... hub. And don't say people don't buy dumb shit, cause idiots fucking buy new iphones like there's no tomorrow all the time. That's fuckin' sad
People buy dumb shit that they can show off with. You can walk around with your iPhone in your hand all day long but almost no-one is going to see your tv tuner. As a prestige item, anything which stays in the living room is a failure.
If people are actually buying iphones so they can show them off as an accessory to status, then thats really fuckin' sad. But you do whatcha want right?
Of course people do that, why else do you think that Apple moves the goalposts every year? Their brand is based on this pseudo-prestige nonsense.
And then there are Apple fans such as myself who buy Apple products because I honestly just enjoy them and prefer them to their Windows or Android counterparts. I never even thought about the "prestige" stuff to be honest. I do use an Android phone though.
