Dead Space 3 wishlist

Visceral Games released Dead Space 2 last month. Though the game was very intense and scary, some of the moments were dull and boring. This is a list of the new features I would want in Dead Space 3.

1. A better save option- I totally hated when I had to go looking for a save station whenever I had to quit the game. Why couldn't I save wherever I want and get on with my life? This part of the game really annoyed me.

2. Better puzzles- The puzzles in the game were pretty boring. I want some puzzles where there is some action instead of 'remove this and put that in' kind of BS.

3. More variety in missions- All we have to do in Dead Space 2 is walk from point A to point B and kill some baddies along the way. Why can't we have better missions like running away from a huge monster while driving a shuttle or saving some survivors via sniper on a rooftop?

4. Character development - Isaac needs a brain! I'm sick of him having to listen to people. Why can't he just do as he wishes and get the hell out of there? Isaac seems like a pushover.

5. Better plot- The story of Dead Space was awesome and creepy, while the plot of Dead Space 2 felt like an action movie cliche. I wish Dead Space 3 has the similarly creepy story as the first one.

6. More weapons- They did have some pretty good weapons in DS 2. I want to see some more like a shotgun, laser ray, and even a rocket launcher.

Here are some of the things I would like in Dead Space 3. Feel free to comment and express your thoughts. Post some of your own wishes for Dead Space 3.

Either that, or remove them completely. They are really boring.

I don't agree with any of your other points though. I really like the way Dead Space 2 felt.

I have to say I don't completely agree with you on some of your points...

1. I actually like the saving system in both Dead Space 1 and 2. It feels like the old-school survival horror games I love so much, and I adds to the whole horror atmosphere. If I could save whenever I want, Isaac's death won't matter at all and the game will stop being scary...

2. Better puzzles will indeed be a welcomed edition.

3. See above :)

4. Dead Space 2 was a step in the right direction. Isaac changed since the first game, and you could really see how the whole Necromorph affair affected him. Plus he had a voice and opinions of his own, so that's good...

5. I thought both games had a great plot to them. The story development in DS 2 was way better then the original. True there were a lot more action moments, but the story was still as intense and visceral.

6.  I don't know if I'd like more weapons, just different weapons. I want to see more verity in general in DS3 (more type of enemies, and some cool new weapons). I mean, how many cutting weapons do I really need? I'll agree that DS2 had some awesome weapons, and really improved of the old ones (Pulse rifle was much more useful this time around). Personally, I didn't use most of the weapons on a regular basis, so as I said - not more weapons, just different ones.

Here's hoping Visceral Games will listen to their fans and make DS3 a perfect game!

I can only agree with 2. , better puzzles, the rest is kinda going against everything Dead Space is, it's not army game, your an engineer, so running around with rocket launchers and such, seems a bit ... off
I love how the saving system works, as mentioned before, feels more surv horror + consequence of death, on hardcore at least.
Like the direction they're taking Issac, kinda dont need more MAster Chief's now.

I was pretty disappointed with the fact that Issac never interacts with the people from Extraction.
If they replaced Ellie with Lexine, I would have liked the game more. So far Extraction and Severed just seem like cash grabs.

I really love the personal story Isaac goes through, and I think Isaac as a character is fantastic. My only problem is that, when going through the sprawl, there are a bunch of moments where there are people screaming for help, but you can never interact with them, they're simply there to help the atmosphere. Maybe there doesn't need to be an aspect of the game where you help some random individual, like a mini game or something, but I wish there was even more strong points to what emotions the game can bring; anger, sadness, what have you.

So far, they have it going strong, and some of the things Isaac says near the end always sends shivers down my spine since it works so effectively. People get it wrong, Isaac isn't simply just walking around like a dog as people tell him to do something. For most of the time, he's in control. See here at 2:22 to 2:35. If he didn't do this stuff, what would be the point of the games story? I can agree with number three, but I sure as heck hope you're not saying that venturing through The Sprawl was boring.

There are a few aspects that I still can't put my finger on that makes me a little bit disappointed with the sequel, but Dead Space 2 is so good that may just be the reason why I can't pin-point it. It may be because I had two totally different feelings of when I beat the first Dead Space and the second. Two both great feelings, but that's what I'm not sure about. I remember feeling a bit of sorrow at the end of Dead Space, 'cause everything/everyone you grow to like over the course of the game is done for. Like even though Kendra was bad, it was sad to see her die in such a way. Dead Space is just so immersive. I love 'em!

The non-linear design of Dead Space 1.

Also, make Isaac a better character for fuck's sakes! I'd say "make him silent, again" but that would be ridiculous.

Oh yeah, MORE FUCKING BOSS FIGHTS! Barely any bosses in Dead Space 2. What the fuck, Visceral?

I like pudding.

This, this, and this.

But I'd be just as happy if they stripped down the plot as much as possible and instead fixed the gameplay. Go back to the slower, methodical combat of DS1 and stop spamming enemies like it was a tower defense game.

Mostly I just want the series to stop taking its fiction so seriously or write a better plot with more compelling characters. The series fiction is lame and silly as hell; they either need to start having some fun with it or improve it greatly.

Also, a greater emphasis on group based combat. Take a que from Resident Evil and force you into corners with mountains of enemies coming at you. It's tenser, funner, and far more satisfying than killing one thing at a time as the enemies line up for you.

The most important thing they need to do is make is scarier. Actually scary, as oppose to jump 'scares'. One of the main things they did wrong was constantly throw hundreds of enemies at you...

Also, I agree with 1 and 2 -- A save system like Amnesia would be good (autosaves when you reach a new area/when you quit); I think the puzzles were mostly good, but, they could have been better and more frequent.

I'd love to see a way to help people in danger as well, and make this some risk and reward thing. A better save system would be cool too.

I liked Dead Space 2's story much better, actually. It was more personal and I never got into that "WOW I CAN IMMERSE MYSELF BECAUSE MY DUDE HAS NO VOICE" shtick.

First of all, you CAN save whereever and whenever you want in DEAD SPACE 1 and 2! On the pause menu they give you the option of saving the game whereever you want! Second, How dare you call Isaac Clarke a pushover!!!!???? Isaac Clarke is my most favorate character!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, the extra guns I COMPLETELY disagree with because dispite the flamethrower, ALL of the guns do the EXACT same thing!!!! And that is cutting off the limbs of the Necros. I disagree with everything you said and I hope everyone else is reading this because DEAD SPACE is the GREATEST GAME SERIES I HAVE EVER PLAYED in my LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It even beats Modern Warfare 3 the way I see it!
