When Zero first came out I actually didn't like it. Preferred regular Coke. But later on I got into it again and I am not sure if they made any initial changes but I liked it a lot (also, less calories) and has been drinking Coke Zero instead of Coke since. And when I tried this one and I agree with Ben, it does taste a lot more like regular Coke than Zero did before. So in some way I feel like I get the best of both worlds now. Less calories and the best Coke taste. I find regular Coke to be a bit too sweet now, but a really cold regular Coke after some hard work does still beat Zero though. But that is such a specific scenario.
Yeah, I have spent way too much time thinking about this.
I agree with Vinny, it looks like a game I want to like. But at the same time I can certainly see all the negative aspects of it Dan mentions. Glad I watched the quick look, this feels like a game I could see myself buying because it looks better than it might actually be.
@pezen: would it help you like enslaved if you knew it was pretty strongly based on journey to the west?
I haven't read it so it makes no real difference. My problem was mostly that I loathed Trip from the get go and from everything I read it made it sound like I would have finished the game feeling like Monkey never got his due. While Trip continued to make selfish decisions that impact other people in horrible ways. At the time I just wasn't in the mood for such a bummer story. But also, the little I played of the game didn't actually click with me on a gameplay level either, though it's possible I wasn't giving the game an honest chance since I was so annoyed by one of the main characters.
I never got into Enslaved. Something about that premise just put me off. But this one looks really interesting, I might actually have to get this pronto. The fact that it's steeped in norse mythology just makes everything even more appealing.
Hold on, does the game gender-switch a bunch of characters based on what gender you pick? I played the demo and picked the dude and I am pretty sure the person in the hallway doing repairs on the pipes was a dude, and the person guiding you. But maybe I am just remembering off.
@humanity: I feel like that comparison is a bit weird because they're scratching different itches. Battleground's success doesn't really take away from Prey's achievements, whatever they may be. It sold less, but units sold isn't really a measure of anything other than mass appeal, and that's a tricky thing to even calculate what will have that.
The segment with Samantha, Robin and Kelly was really interesting. I have actually thought a lot lately about something Samantha brought up, namely the idea that we should/could look at VR as a completely new medium rather than an extension of an already existing one. And in doing so, finding new solutions and designs rather than relying on the traditional game's alphabet.
As always though, I want to say a big thank you for yet another year of quality E3 content from Giant Bomb. And it's always a real treat to see the duders in the last segment get back together and have some fun, becuase they bring back memories of me and my friends hanging out over the years. No matter how much time pass and where we are in life, we can always count on each other for laughs with and at each other. Good times.
