Today I set out on a journey to buy two new games. It has been a while since I had ventured to the lying/ deceiving douse-bags they call gamestop. Last time I was there I bought BF BC. My plans for today were to take advantage of the turn in three games get 15$ deal. With that 15$ I would get a more card. With that more card I would get more money on the three games I turned in, and would save on ncaa 09 used. Then with all that money I saved I would have enough to buy rock band 2. Flawless correct?

This plan all went down to toilet when Gamestop was once again, under stocked on a HUGE game coming out. For some unforeseen reason, I never got around to pre-ordering it. This morning I figured with the lack of advertisement/ over stock gamestop SHOULD have, that I would be able to find it. But no, the dude said they only had 5 copies that weren't pre-orders. Seriously? 5? Now who knows if this idiot was right, but still. If he says 5, that means that there were very few copies. 

Also what sucked was that part of the deal was that the 3 next gen games you turned in had to be over a value of 1 dollar. I decided to turn in Harry Potter, Order of the Phoenix for the wii.  The Bigs and Fifa World Cup for the 360. This is what I could get for each game. 

So you're saying I could get more money for a shitty old ass ps2 game (recently turned in madden 07 for 5 bucks) for 5 times as much as a good xbox 360 game? Once again a little thing gamestop does to piss me off. So no 15 dollars for me. 

Thinking on my feet, I suddenly realized that I had already transfered my songs over to rockband 2, so I will have no need for the rockband 1 disk. So next weekend I will turn in The Bigs, Harry Potter, and Rockband in, and get my 15$. I assume maybe 10$ for rockband so I'll be looking at around 41$ for everything. Not to mention the 10% I'll get with my edge card. Still a rip off. But its easy, quick, and what else am I going to do with those games? 

So I'm sitting here with ncaa 09 used copy, which looks like it was taken out of the box once. I love getting lucky when it comes to used games. I payed 50 bucks for it, which I'm content with. I pretty much payed 50 bucks for a used game. Next weekend I'll end up paying around 20 bucks for rockband 2. This has gone long, so tomorrow I'll blog about the dumbass at the counter at Gamestop.

I used to trade in my games, only to find me regretting it a few months down the line. Now I'm just alot more choosy of what I purchase.

Gamestop is nicer than anything else out there. But that doesn't mean there aren't complaints...

Want to get this out there. I like Gamestop. I like how I can go there, and know they will have the game I want. I like the pre-ordering, and the special deals they have. I don't like there customer service, how they rip you off when you trade in games, and how they sell you broken shit. 

I actually find the customer service at my gamestop to be awesome. They really rip me off though at my Gamestop. I turned in Halo 3, The Bourne Conspiracy, Blacksite Area 51, and Madden 2008 all for the 360...Now these are all games that came out in 07 or 08. I got $25 for Halo, because of a deal on it but I got $15 for those other three. It is such BS. Steven I'll PM you the final cut for the TFU trailer.

I never trade in games regardless of whether I will play them, Im a complete hoarder when it comes to games.

The Bigs is actually really good, I really enjoyed that game a whole lot.

yanks- I can see how you didn't get much for madden and blacksite, but halo and bourne conspiracy thats ridiculous.

Gamestop's whole mentality is having used games pawned off a new ones. Its a perfect business strategy.

Gearhead- I know, the more I think about it, the more I realize how genius it is. Buy every used game, sell it for 3 times more. If its broken, its ok because we can fix it for cheap, and still make profit.

Amazing quote. The thing I hate about Gamestop the most is that they always ask me if I want a god damn pre-order, and I get like a 10 page list of dates that I already know are wrong. Also, I don't want a fucking edge card Gamestop, or a subscription to Game Informer. EGM and Gamepro are great, I don't need the magazine that gave Kayne and Lynch a 4.5, thanks.

lol thanks gearhead. Its so true. Gamestop is so great for gamers, it gives us a place to find all things gaming related. But it also screws us, by sucking us in with pre-orders, limited editions, used games that don't work, but most of all we pretty much turn over 45 dollar games for 12 dollar store credit. 

DUDE! Sell the Rock Band disc to a person. People are most likely going to be trying to get it to transfer the songs over. Maybe you could get more from it.

Mike= ya but if people wanted it just to transfer they would rent. That would be what like 8 bucks. I can get probably 10-12 for it at gamestop. Plus its really the only game I want to turn in at this point. And I want to do that 15 dollar deal. But I understand your thinking.

According to this website, GameTradeCentral, you should get $14 for Rock Band the Xbox 360 version.

I had to tell my dad today that Gamespot was cheap, and wouldn't hold my copy of TFU for more than 24 hrs, since I was to sick to go (I did try and go to soccer, but I puked twice after making some saves), he got me TFU, and its awesome.

I guess I should consider myself lucky that gamestop isn't in Canada... :P
