Was this a scripted event or non scripted event in Skyrim ?

Hi all, some of the events in Skyrim are pretty epic but I would like to know if a certain event happened to you guys or was a random event.

I was following the Thieves Guild quests when I was sent to Winterhold (where the Mages College is), this was the first visit to the city and as soon as I arrived a Dragon attacked the town landing on the Inn, flying around and torching the town, in doing so it completely destroyed about four or five buildings in the city (not sure if these will ever get rebuilt).

The dragon was not even a named one it was just called "Dragon" which is why I think it may be random, if it is random then it was the best random event I have witnessed in a game in about 20 years of gaming.

So did this happen to you? Have you had an event which you are not sure is scripted or not?

Those buildings are already destroyed. It was likely a random dragon. If you talk to the people they will explain how their town got destroyed.

I was in a town one day, then it was burned and charred the next. Also, there were dragons attacking another town (please stop destroying my towns I need gold D: ).

I need gold for houses, but if I pay tons of gold for a house and it gets burned down then it's all the same! :(

(Don't actually know if that can happen... We shall see)

That is what you get for owning a house in Skyrim :D.

I can't afford one because I spend all my gold on training smithing and such >:(

Jealous but also happy your house will get burned down :)

I am a bad person.

One of my houses probably will, when that happens I'll pick one of them to be my base, build barricades and sit on the roof with my buddy and shoot any dragon that comes near the city. Or yell loudly at it as it passes by.

I am actually surprised that the dragons are not so formidable. I can kill one by myself and I am only level 20 O_O

They're annoying as hell though if you have no health potions and you're being attacked by 2 of them and a bear.

Remember, you're Dragonborn. Yelling loudly is a legitimate strategy.

@Still_I_Cry: Try bumping up the difficulty... Two dragons always make me cry when they're coming for me and not the deers.. or Elks.

@Make_Me_Mad: That's true, speaking of yelling loudly. If I can yell that loud why don't I have a "HELP!!!!" yet? That could come in handy

@ZeForgotten: Hell no. I get turned to a mound of ashes (or an ice sculpture etc) when there is more than one. Even then, sometimes they're hard to take. I think I was expecting them to be the "uber enemy" that almost always destroys you until you are level 50, which is why I siad they were no so formidable. Sorry, bad choice of wording.

Also, while we are on the subject (we aren't? Yes we are :D) do you have any suggestions on how to take out a shit ton of mages as a warrior (It is for the marriage quest).

@Still_I_Cry: No clue, I'm no warrior. My bow and stealth kills makes normal guys easy targets. It did help to get a mage companion with me though. His magic is insane!

@poisonmonkey: "You there, moose! fight this dragon and become a hero while you make sure that I get out of here alive!" would be a good one too.. And in Dragonees it would translate to "Bleh!". (Terrible joke, but I swear for the longest time I thought he said "Foof" with the first shout you get)

@ZeForgotten: "Companion, cease getting in my way or I shall feed thee to the nearest giant" also translated to "Foof" (which is what I thought he said too!)
