@MuftyRiots: Yah I think you just described it pretty well. I am trying to remember the advertising for Fallout/TES and I can't picture anything at all. Oh well. Brink looks fun, I've squandered $50 on less promising things.
It's that rent-a-quote vibe that is worrying. But like Jeff (and you) said, no one has played it in a while so there isn't much to say.
@The_Laughing_Man: I totally had no interest in this game until recently, then I got super excited, then worried. Maybe I'll just pick it up and roll the dice. What platform do you play on?
I bet you are right that there is an embargo, but when you listen to podcasts or read the news stories you can usually get a sense of how excited (or not excited) the writer/speaker is. For Brink, there are just no news stories or mentions at all, except for the standard press releases and upbeat-but-vague previews. Even those are usually written by a freelancer rather than a main site contributor, which is another indicator of disinterest. I just wonder if that is because the people who have seen it aren't impressed or if it is because it is flying under the radar.
I like to hear from people like Jeff, Vinnie, etc about games (as opposed to reading about them on IGN or Gamespot), but I feel like this game is not getting a ton of coverage. Does anyone know any recent episodes of the Bombcast (or maybe the Joystiq podcast or RebelFM, or whatever) where Brink is discussed by those who have actually played it? All of the previews I've been reading sound the same.
