@louiedog: No, but everyone who I would have played with is on Xbox live. No steam friends =P.
edit: and no, no PS3 unfortunately. But I was thinking of buying one... maybe this PSN debacle will make them lower the price and I'll finally pick one up. Also, I didn't say I had anything worthwhile to say you'll notice.
@scarace360: I was thinking of bringing food for the meeting, will a single subway footlong be enough? Maybe a small coke we can all share?
Before I fully drink the BDF kool-aid, I have to say this game needs a serious patch. Playing online alternates between totally smooth to early-2000s era slideshow latency. You can really tell when you are playing on a dedicated server and when you are playing peer-to-peer. Also, sound glitches and invisible bots (may be related to the lag)... but seriously how does a game stay in development for so long and still have sound glitches?
It's so much fun when a team works together, which makes it all the more of a shame when the game decides to shit the bed for one reason or another.
I put down "not yet". There are some bugs that are frankly just embarrassing (losing sound after completing objectives, invisible bots), but when everything is going smoothly the game is a lot of fun. I also bought it via D2D with the promo, if I had paid $60 I would be less happy.
Also, OP was being pretty douchey with his wording of the post. The tone and condescension are unnecessary and make reasonable discussion more difficult.
@Twisted_Scot: I'm with you. I've had a good time with the game. I'm not saying it's the best thing since sliced Jesus, but it certainly isn't bad, and definitely not terrible.
People seem to be patting themselves on the back because they think the game turned out to be the worse thing since Daikatana and they "called it". I'm just trying to be reasonable about saying the game is actually pretty good, and it's frustrating when people who have (by their own admission) never given the game a chance hold up a couple bad reviews and proclaim the game to be absolute shit. People need to learn "not fantastic" doesn't mean "utter garbage". I really don't want to be on the Brink defense force, but here I am anyways apparently.
@Twisted_Scot:@wolf_blitzer85: I had similar thoughts watching that quick look. I'm gonna give Jeff the benefit of the doubt and say he was having a bad experience with the game prior to starting the QL and just wanted it to be over with, rather than never giving it a chance in the first place. He's been doing this too long to be such an amateur about it.
I have to say in my short time playing it I haven't had many of the issues being described in a lot of reviews. Granted I've been playing on PC, and the PC version has been receiving better scores all around. No noticeable texture pop, no connection issues, and my AI buddies had no problem completing main objectives while I provided cover. I was actually surprised when (after reading many reviews) I ran to blow open a door as part of the main level path and found a small squad of AI taking care of it already.
