They may not have always paid off but the man made some bold and wildly different moves that few would be brave enough to try. So long, Mr. Iwata.

I've always enjoyed the irony of videogame folks mocking anime and its fans while at the same time fighting against the exact same shit being thrown at them.

In my opinion, roguelikes (such as: Rogue Legacy, Dark Souls (somewhat) and The Binding of Issac) are simply brutally hard for the sake of being brutally hard. Now, this may harken back to an era of games that were like that but what purpose do they serve in this generation or this age? Is it purely for the sake of being retro or is there something more to them - the rogue likes - that I am simply not getting, because playing a game for it's difficulty is a rather shallow reason to play a game.

It's worth noting these are all wildly different games with only the loose concept of rouge-likeness linking them and many other of this genre, if you can call it that, are equally different so it's not about liking rouge-likes, it's about like the games this one element is tied to. If you like Platformers then Legacy and Spelunky are more for you than, say, FTL or Dungeons of Dreadmore but if you like something where you control the pace then it's reversed. Comparing those games shows that you're not really thinking about the games, you're thinking about what is ultimately a buzzword. The way we use rouge like now is so broad it's like calling every game that involves shooting, be it Geometry Wars, Doom or Super Metroid, "shooters" and acting as if they're all essentially the same.

Stop thinking of the games as rouge-likes and look at the much more prominent game mechanics.

Also, the idea that these games aren't skill based because "random chance" is a very reductionist idea of skill, as if adaptability isn't a huge skill. "Skill", like rouge-like is an incredibly broad term. Painting and Brian Surgery are two very different things that both require huge amounts of very different skills. Same goes for all these different games. Having to adapt to random rooms or learn a range of items through actual trial and error LEARNING are honest to goodness skills and to claim otherwise is really weird.

4chan's /v/ and /vg/ are likely the most active in terms of posts per minute but are vile and toxic communities for the most part.

Something Awful is pretty good but have high yet strange community standards. Don't expect to do well if you aren't willing to conform to their general standards. Also, $10. Still, if you like Let's Plays especially the $10 can feel like a very good investment. There's lots of other content there as well which is nice.

Here is okay and since the crap that happened surrounding Dan's hiring the community has some what driven off the MRA bullshit that blighted here. Mods are questionable at times. You can start shitty, antagonistic threads because "free speech" but you can't call out shitty threads for racism/sexism/blatant shit stirring because arguing is bad.

Still, it's free, good turn over and produces some fun original content.

I know it's not GB content per se but I think the GB fans might be interested in Danny O'Dwyer and his quest to date some pigeons.

First two are from the main game, chasing after Shuu. Then it's the Holiday Star expansion with an episode per video (except for the two part finale!)

If you don't want to archive them then I respect that but I thought it'd be worth sharing it here just in case. Keep up the great work. FUNKY BARN!

So what are your plans beyond porting to Unity? Are you going to employ character unique moves eventually? The different valued score zones? Different arenas?

I know you'll want to get the foundations locked first before this more complex stuff but I'm curious as to long term plans.

@seikenfreak: It's not really illegal. They made her a massive lowball offer and she accepted it, perhaps not knowing the actual value or not caring. It's slimy on their part but not illegal since they are not legally obligated to offer you the best price.

Sounds like you're not getting your money back, OP. You gave the book to her as a gift so she's allowed to do with it what she wants. As far as the shop cares your transaction has ended. They sold you a book and through a series of events it is now legally back in their hands to resell at a huge profit.

FYI, when interrogating people it's standard practice to repeat the same question numerous times just incase the answer changes because the person was lying or leaving out details. This isn't meant to dismiss any complaints but just to point out that's just the way this things like that actually work out.
