yeah I totally figured there would be another 1 or 2 levels and another boss after I beat the final boss. I felt let down once the credits started rolling.
From reading the reviews by people who beat the game already, this isn't a game you can mainline the story. One reviewer said he tried to ignore the basebuilding and side missions but got to a point in the story where he had to go back and do 10 hours worth of grinding to make up for time he spent skipping that stuff in order to unlock the next story mission. Also many people are saying the majority of the story is in the cassette tapes since there aren't very many cutscenes. If they aren't listening to the tapes during the playthrough they aren't going to get much story.
The events of Rising are going to have zero impact on MGSV and you don't need to play it at all. Having said that though, that game is fucking awesome.
I finished at about 90 hours. I did every sidequest/contract/treasurehunt but I missed a lot of the question marks on the map. I also didn't touch Gwent at all.
What they should do is Co-Op all the story missions together up until the first ending, then just watch a youtube of the final ending. The grinding required to get the final ending wouldn't be very fun to watch
