I have D2 with the first two expansions on PS4. I liked it a lot, I don't mind grinding at all.

After the game came out the One X launched, I found myself slowly shifting to that console, for multiplatform, including switching from PS+ to Xbox Live Gold. So, even if the most sensible thing would be to buy a month of PS+ and the new expansion, instead I bought the all-inclusive edition on Xbox, with pass to released and unreleased expansions and started a new character.

I don't regret it or anything, but it sure is pricey. Also I bought D1 with expansions on PS3 and PS4, that makes this the most money spent on a single franchise for me, but I really really like those games, in spite of the problems it always had.

I'd says if you are not sure about pulling the trigger, wait for a sale.

@moondogg: Get 75% damage reduction (that's the cap), you have to stack it from items like bows, grenades and amulets. That's the number one tip. If you look at the screenshots posted in this thread, you'll see that that's what everyone has been doing. It's a bit disappointing because it pushes you towards a specific kind of build.

Yeah I forgot to mention I only play FPP Solo, which of course limits me because most people play TPP. I have an open NAT as well and had no problems in months after release (only performance obviously, not matchmaking). This is kind of fucked.

I recently came back to this game, on Xbox (and they did improve the performance to mostly steady framerate now, so it plays so much better), I had an OK time matchmaking in the evenings (6pm-9pm), taking around 5 minutes to get into a game. But anytime outside of that window I just don't get into a game. It's 10am now an I just let it go for 15 minutes and nothing. I am not a programmer, but I don't understand why it let's me spin in the menu for that long, considering how the game is structured: if there is no current server being filled up, spin a new one and then let other people join? At least that way, in the lobby area/pre-game I would actually see there are not enough people to start a match. Even at those evening peak hours it usually takes me to a game with 50-60 people and we wait for the rest. I really enjoy the game as it is now, but I can only play it during a specific time, which is a huge bummer, especially for someone like me who works day and night shifts.

Xbox One, Europe servers.

Anyone else playing on the console? What is your region and how has your experience with matchmaking been?

EDIT: First Person Perspective Solo only

This is hilarious: When Exquisite Corps aired with circa hour long episodes, people demanded those to be doubled, so they aimed Mass Alex to be roughly twice that, per week...and people want them to double that!

Another complaint: after you beat a boss you have the chance to use cells to improve your drops. But because you have to burn all your cells after every stage, you can only spend the cells you just earned from that boss. I'll need to grind bosses dozens of times to start seeing a benefit. If I could save up my cells, not spending any at The Collector, and run the risk/reward of hoping I get to and past the boss on each run, that could be a neat dynamic. Instead, it just feels like a slog.

This was mentioned in other places but here it is anyway: You can break down the doors after a non-boss stage to keep your cells, all the way up and after any given boss and cash them at the same time.

Right, it is weird, from more searching around it looks like it only affects some people, but definitely on multiple platforms.

Does the daily quest counter not count down after the first win for anyone else? I am stuck at 4 more victories for the next reward.

I am playing on the Switch.

@inresurrection: I absolutely love the game, but I have seen a lot of people calling it a Metroidvania. The game isn't anywhere close to a Metroidvania beyond having a map.

Yeah, and the runes, which open up different paths, but that's a super minor thing in the structure of this game.

@karlhungus01: Thanks for that advice, I tried to focus on those damage reducing items and by the time I got to the High Peak Castle, I had a cumulative -100% damage received!! Obviously there is some kind of hard cap bellow that, so I was nit invincible, but I was taking a fraction of the amount of damage with all that. And I indeed finished that run, the final boss was still a fight, but waaay easier that time, I only healed once. Seems to me incorporating those items is crucial, meaning one almost has to carry grenades, shields and/or bows, which is fine, considering those are more of a support items, as opposed to turrets and melee weapons, which focus on dealing direct damage.
