Almost done with the game, playing on the ps4 pro and didn't have anywhere near the amount of problems Brad had. I'd say the worst were like 3 crashes and a few times where the person I was supposed to go to for a quest didn't load in. In those cases I left whatever planet or area it was and came back and it worked every time. Also had one kind of important conversation with PeeBee for her loyalty mission stuff where she didn't load in so I couldn't hear anything she was saying and had to kind of piece it together from Ryder's responses.

I never even saw a T pose but did see a lot of stuff of npcs kind of trying to run to wherever they were supposed to be when I walked by and looking really goofy. I'm sure every platform has the same bugs but some people just get lucky.

I feel like fem Ryder in this video with how conflicted I am. I think I'm getting it day one. It's crazy how badly they screwed this up, but I'll probably still have a decent time playing it and I really liked the ME3 multiplayer so I'm excited for that part. Hopefully something about the story or the crew loyalty type missions pulls me in in some way but all the writing I've seen so far doesn't give me much hope.

I feel bad for supporting what seems to be one of the jankiest big games in a long time but It's too hard for me to not play the next Mass Effect game.

@rangers517: They should show that comparison either between PeeBee and Ashley or with 2 secondary characters. I'm not saying that they shouldn't have improved facial animations in 10 years, only that it makes sense to prioritize time on animations for more important main characters than less important side characters.

Ryder's the main character and the amount of dumb faces he made that Jeff, Brad, and Rorie laughed at yesterday just in the first couple hours tells me they just did a really bad job with facial animation and all that stuff. And apparently the female Ryder is even worse from all the gifs i've seen.

I'm still getting this game because I love space stuff and the combat and rpg mechanics look decent, but it's insane how bad everything about the conversations and animations look.

That just looks terrible. No idea how people are comparing this stuff to Horizon. Every human that I've seen so far in this combined doesn't have the emotion or breadth of facial expressions of even one side character in Horizon. And obviously that game just looks a lotttt better visually.

Money is currently a bit tight for me, so a game needs to be real great if I am going to spend 40 or more bucks on it. As soon as I saw the thick white arrow trail, I knew I wasn't going to buy this. It's almost - admittedly not quite, but almost - up there with Deus Ex' cut to black before a takedown in terms of extremely amateurish design.

Yes, Zelda and Horizon are different games, but I think everyone can agree that you're never going to play both of those at the same time. I would buy Zelda and replay it at least once before I would play Horizon. I would like to play Horizon, but my prediction is I won't get to it before the year is over.

Personally I'd be much more annoyed by a game that runs badly and drops to 20 fps a lot of the time than the little white trail off the arrows that I stopped noticing after 30 minutes or something.

And I don't know why someone couldn't play both those games at once. Horizon is heavily story driven (with a really good story) and has good interesting combat with a lot of different options while zelda seems like a big world to solve puzzles in and explore with extremely basic combat and not much story. They're pretty different

The same reason I don't like to play Saints Row and GTA at the same time. It's really not that convoluted to understand. And sure, to each their own. I'm much less bothered by performance issues in a game I actually like everything of (XCOM 2 is one of my favorite games of all time), than one that has a fantastic story but pretty uninteresting gameplay, which is what Horizon is to me. I've seen nothing interesting about that game outside of its stellar visuals. Combat looks like a worse Tomb Raider with poor visual design around it.

comparing this combat to tomb raider just tells me you don't know much about the game. if you only watched the quick look where jeff does the only Cauldron in the game that has human enemies and just shoots everything in the head then I guess I understand why you'd think that, but most quests, especially in the 2nd half have you fighting big machines where just shooting them over and over isn't very effective and would take a longer amount of time while there are a lot of better options like tying them down, tearing off their weapons and armor and even using their weapons against them, applying elemental damage to the right weak points on their bodies, etc. whatever though, buy what you want.

--

Anyway, on topic I agree with the other person that said the weapon tutorials. I would rather them have lowered the exp you get from them and made them all track all the time rather then having to select them. My other one would be I wish the resources tab went higher than 100 spots. for the last probably 1/3 of the game I was always in the 90's out of 100 and would have to sell stuff while all the other tabs felt like i had more than enough space. Other than that, just finished the story like an hour ago and it was really good. Such a great world and they answer pretty much everything about it in satisfying ways.

Definitely one of my favorite games in a while

picked 2011 but for me it was mostly just whenever ryan, jeff and vinny were on the same podcast or quick look. i do find myself going back and listening/watching stuff from like 2010-12 the most. when i go back and listen to that stuff i still find it funnier than a lot of podcasts i listen to these days with actual comedians. they had such good chemistry and played off each other so well.

i still think the site is better than the other video game sites out there but to me it's nowhere near what it was back then. obviously that's not really anyone's fault with what happened to ryan and vinny moving back east to be near family.

It's not just that it's $50-$100 more than most people expected. All of the accessories are also more than everyone expected + having to pay for online is not something anyone expected. So when everything is more money than expected + there's like 2 new launch games everyone's of course going to freak out even more. To get the system+ Zelda+ a pro controller someone would be paying like $450 with tax. Doesn't seem worth it at all.

I mean seriously, does this look like something that should be one of the big pillars of a new console
