Project 2015

I know there are many people out there who are confused and angry over the recent action taken by Activision by firing the studio heads from Infinity Ward. It might not make any sense why you would fire the two people in charge of one of your most successful franchises, but this is business. It isn't supposed to make any sense... it's just supposed to make money (or... cents if you will).

I know some people out there might also be confused by Bobby Kotick's attitude. Not more than a week or two ago he was standing on stage in a sweater telling us what a good guy he is. Nothing creates a more compelling argument that you are not, in fact,  a dick than by sending big guys in suits to escort two people off company property for 'insubordination'. Even further, nothing demonstrates good management skills than by firing two important people from the part of your structure that just sold a billion dollars worth of product--who also garner a lot of public exposure--and not have a press statement ready to go.  Even from an investor standpoint, I would be highly concerned over the management of Activision.

The guys from Infinity Ward seem to be cursed. It seems like it was only a few years ago that a little studio called 2015 left EA to go and make a new World War 2 game. It seems almost a little *too* poignant. Nothing would be more fitting than these guys pulling their team back together at a new studio and beating their old franchise again in the year 2015. Almost prophetic really...
