Firstly this sucks. Really sucks. For Jess and Jason. I imagine Jess will find her feet pretty quickly, she was very popular, but I do worry about Jason with losing his health coverage (America sucks). I hope Jason sets up a Patreon or something pretty quick even if he doesn't do much content, so people can support him.

I'll be honest, I was checked out of GB West a long time ago, only really watched Vinny/Alex/Austin/Dan/Abby at GB East. Once the Nextlander guys left, I was done.

However, I do appreciate many people liked the new direction, and from lurking in the forums Jess was great, new blood, new ideas and content. Jason I felt was more comfortable getting on with the job, not so much on camera, which again is absolutely fine.

I think GB is done frankly, its clear Fandom getting rid of 2 of 3 video editors on a site that produces video shows they don't give a shit, or don't understand GB. I have a sneaky feeling they'll merge GB and Gamespot, why have 2 game sites. And when they don't make X money they'll shutter both.

I did wonder about the decision to employ a shit tonne of people in the relaunch.

I've watched GB since day one, after reading about Jeff being fired from Gamespot and how shitty that was.

I think the writing is on the wall - and I completely disagree with people saying "keep paying the money or you'll hurt the remaining staff.". Its clear the new owner don't care.

Save your cash, and support the individuals you like content from. I'm sure given none of them had any warning about this, they are looking hard at their own positions, and probably looking at the off ramp. I know I would.

I've been through redundancy before, but bar 1 occasion is always been done professionally, not an instant "off you go after 10 years, security will watch you pack".

I truly wish both Jess and Jason all the best. GLHB.

And for the remaining staff, just note this is exactly how you'll be treated when you are "no longer required".

@boozak: I was into GB from day one. Ryan's death was heart-breaking. But they carried on. IMHO once they split into GB West and GB East, my preference was Vinny and Alex, and then Austin and Dan and Abby. The GB East podcast was far superior.

I wish Jeff all the best - I think this was handled really really badly though. I will also say that I zoned out of Jeff years ago, too miserable and jaded. I was fully into Vinny and Alex over on GB East until they left.

To reiterate on another thread, Dan needs strong characters to bounce off of. I'm not sure the new core has this

I'm in the UK. We are more vaccinated, but the idiot government is still making huge mistakes. We have our own anti vax anti mask idiots but no where near what America has. You guys literally have the Republican politicians who by the way are fully vaccinated using this as political leverage.

I was there from the start. Watching Gamespot, Ryan and Jeff G. Then followed everything going forward. I was a sub from day 1. I always aligned with Vinny the most, and once Vinny and Alex moved to set up shop in New York, I lost interest in GB west. I followed GB East, continued my sub, and never watched anything from GB west. Dan, Austin, and Abby were great, but my main reason for the sub was Vinny, Alex and Jeff B - their podcast was so worth the money.

Now, there is no one left at GB I care about. So I'm out.

I do want to be very clear though. Watching them for a decade has been amazing. Such talent, so ahead of the game.

@cursethesemetalhands: it was a Zexrow Xbox 360 Wired Controller, random knock off. So far so good but I've only had it a week or so. I'll let you know if it dies in like 2 months. Amazon reviews are pretty good though so fingers crossed. NB I only replaced my Original Xbox 360 controller because it developed an annoying issue where it would very frequently switch to player 2, which is an issue in some games I play, and my son plays a lot of fortnite which does not handle that switch at all. Only a full PC reboot puts it back to player 1.

@cursethesemetalhands: I bought a cheap xbox 360 clone for £16.10 - wired of course. Works great. Couldn't justify huge money on Series controller, plus I hate wireless as it always goes weird in windows for one reason or another, plus the battery cost (or extra expense of buying rechargeable accessory).

@chillster7000: How can you tell how many subs at what level?

I think its a win / win for consumers. If money is tight, if your preference is for Nextlander (or something else) support them, or if Nu Bomb, subscribe (depending on how the model may or may not change). You have a choice, or if your flush(ish) support both. Its ultimately more content selection, and if you include Abby and Dan's twitch stuff, its entirely up to you what you watch. I wish Vinny / Alex / Brad all the best, and I also hope Nu Bomb works out too. I'll personally always gravitate towards Vinny though, he's more my age and personality.
