Are you guys talking about the new xbox?

It seems like you are talking about the new xbox and not the old xbox.

I think i might get the new playstation.

Microsoft lazily just recognized everyone is just going to refer to it as the new xbox. Really they should of just called the the "xbox" and everyone would of just dealt with it. Instead they have added this confusing unnecessary subtitle.

It's like they weren't even paying attention to the Wii U launch.

Television, what a waste of time.

Pretty much every commodore 64 game I played, which was like 8 big boxes of copied games. 100s of games.

There was generally very little instruction going on, since there were no instruction manuals (before piracy was like, a thing and drm was a twinkle in your fathers eye.) Given the time I doubt there was anywhere to even purchase these games at retail I assume they were all traded around between a small group of hobbyists (it was like 5 grand for a commodore 64, and thats 5 grand in the 80's) for a five year old the biggest part of the game was spending two hours working out how to play the thing. I'd basically work through the process of hitting every key on the keyboard to see what would happen in any given situation. I could play a game for hours and have very little idea what was happening exactly.

I fired up a remake of impossible mission recently and that game STILL has me head fucked.

Ahh they were grand times.

O right also the sierra adventure games, It was a bit of a challenge working out how to progress in leisure suit larry when you are under the age of ten. On the plus side those games taught me to type and spell and opened my vocabulary to well beyond where I should of been.

If i've already played it on something else i probably don't want to play it again on the vita.

If it's something suited to the vita, i'd much rather play it on that first though.

I want to see the awesome new indie games come to vita pretty much simultaneously with other consoles, sony seem to slowly be getting better and better at making this happen.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/battlefield-3-graphics-performance,3063.html

This is outdated but will still show you what you need minimum. If you are worried about it dropping from 60 at all, shoot a little higher even.

Actually, search around that site and find battlefield benchmarks on something a little newer, probably around the 650ti or gtx 670 range.

Being that framerate drops occur with more players on the map, look into the possibility it's your cpu not handling the amount of shit going on? I'm not educated on AMD processors, maybe it's more than enough.

Curious to know how much Australian's pay for video games?

I was in my local K-mart last evening and was gob-smacked at the price of certain crappy games.

Bare in mind too, the Aussie dollar is worth more than the US at the moment.

What kind of VAT do you have for videogames? In Finland we have 24% VAT on most goods, including games. I don't mind paying it in order to have a better country to live in.

Our tax (GST - good and service tax) is a flat 10 percent on everything. Tax included in price.

Thats a good point actually, i always forget that in most states in north america etc (the usual comparison) Tax is included after the sale price.

Different wages and price of living.

A lot of it is people charge what they can get away with and then just shrug and say "shipping", there doesn't seem to be anything stringent to regulate it. It became a big issue last year regarding all manner of generally electronic goods that were all marked up for no real reason.

People are payed higher wages here in general and the worth of the currency is considered differently, for example it's nothing to buy something like a bottled gatorade or vitamin water here for 5 dollars each, which is like three dollars higher than the states. It's not uncommon to go out for dinner and some drinks and walk out with a 100 - 200 dollar bill either, and it's not uncommon to get taxed 50 cents on every fucking dollar.

On the bright side crime mostly stays down and we generally don't have mentally disturbed lunatics raiding our garbage and shooting up our schools.

Steam bitches.

Steam uses localized pricing too.....

It still comes up cheaper than most at retail, some newer titles go for as little as 50 - 60 bucks depending on the publisher and then there's the steam sale factor. When you can get the occasional newish title at half to 75 percent off, and like year old games for as little as five bucks. You will never find a game for sale that cheap anywhere at retail.

I use a a razer orochi. It's small, and mainly for convenience of being able to use it wireless from the couch or wired with the laptop from a desk when i'm travelling.

I like this mouse. When I get a proper desk mouse I guess the deathadder is probably the logical progression. Personally i've always made do with whatever and I feel "gaming mice" are a little bit overboard. Though if I was to buy one I would be looking hard at that RAT9.

Realistically though you are probably going to set it up once and then use it in it's most basic function like any other mouse. It's probably nice to have the flexibility of a mouse like that if you are someone prone to any kind of wrist strain (I wont go there) or strange usage quirks.

For instance, when i'm not playing games I handle my mouse at a 90 degree angle. Does anyone else do this or am I just weird?

For some reason this thread makes me think about how forgotten this game probably will be post E3.

We sure are at the end of a console cycle.

Kmart has kind of given up on selling games seriously, I guess they kind of stock them to sell to the occasional grandma for presents to the nephew or something I dunno, their selection is shithouse and yeh, bad two year old games are still at 99 dollars.

Harvey Norman is guilty of the same bullshit.

As far as physical sales EB and GAME are the most common, and while prices are still much higher than north america they are a little more realistic than they used to be.

Aside from a few games and depending on the publisher, steam is pretty close to US prices. The PSN store seems to slowly be getting slightly more realistic than the straight 99 dollar price tags. I haven't looked at the xbox marketplace in like two years, but I doubt it's changed much there.

Over the last few years (and after some higher profile people started to make some noise about costs regarding technology over here) Prices for games seemed to drop between 10-40 dollars.

Places like Kmart didn't really get the memo I guess or just don't care. I always get a chuckle walking through there. Especially after any sort of steam sale.
