Top 10 Games of 2011!

These were the 10 games released in 2011 I enjoyed the most (that I actually played).

Was previously a top 5, expansion 4 teh win!

List items

  • Asylum was great, yet this still managed to improve on it's predecessor in every conceivable way, better presentation, better side missions, better bosses, more satisfying difficulty, a plot that kept me guessing until the very end. It's all here and it didn't need multiplayer!

  • I have played this game for over 200 hours now, for a first effort from a now 2 man team that is pretty crazy. I adore the visual style, very reminiscent of good old SNES games, I like the gear based progression & the combat itself is fun. Co-op just amplified all of these positive to an almost addictive levels. At the very least it is my number 1 Indie game of 2011.

  • Valve does it again, funny & clever go a really long way. Co-op is also brilliant, provided that both players have not had the puzzle solutions spoiled for them & figure them out themselves. Now Valve, CONTINUE HALF-LIFE!

  • Dat Narration. Seriously though, simple & fun combat with very varied weapons, the storyline engages you seamlessly without ever wrestling control of the game from you and then there's that amazing & sometimes beautiful soundtrack. It was so good I was compelled to start New Game+ IMMEDIATELY just to confirm the game really was that good........as well as buy the PC version during Steam sales despite already owning the 360 version.

  • Like most Deus Ex fans, I was worried this would be terrible. Fortunately they got this one mostly right with a unique & appropriate visual aesthetic, a great soundtrack & making the character building systems deep without sacrificing accesibility. This might've been higher but.....boss fights =_=

  • Even though my friends & I aren't into the competitive MP, there was tons of content for us to enjoy, the campaign actually had a definite (if slightly sour) conclusion and was filled with fun arena & set piece battles, the revamped Horde mode is ridiculous fun with friends & Beast mode is an absolute riot. Tie it all up with some of the finest UE3 powered visuals to date and you have the complete package that is Gears 3.
