I love the art direction of this game, the whole sci-fi/asian mythology theme is really interesting to me. Such a theme allows the developers to go all-out with the cinematic areas of the game, which I believe that is what they were trying to do. Now I'm not against actiony cut scenes nor QTEs every now and then, but I really would prefer if those would take up a smaller portion of the game. There are other games who do the same thing much better than Asura's Wrath does.
For example, Bayonetta utilized quick time events and over-the-top cut scenes extremely well, using them to do a torture attack or create a climactic end to a boss battle. But what was important is that they were scarce, there was enough time in between these QTEs where you just beat up angels and explore the levels. Doing the QTEs in Bayonetta was fun and satisfying, not repetitive and boring. Although, we can't say that Asura's Wrath is completely filled with these lame "interactive cut-scenes" from playing these two boss battles. Is the normal gameplay full of QTEs as well, or are most of them saved for the more cinematic moments? If the majority of the game doesn't play out like an interactive movie then I may consider getting this eventually.
I can only imagine what potential this game would have if it was in the hands of different developers (Platinum Games?)...
