1st Marching Show of the Season (not gaming related)

So tomorrow will be FCHS's (Fayette County High School's(my school's)) first marching show of the season.  We will only be playing the first movement and will not be in uniform.  We've really got the first movement down.  I think we'll have a great performance though.  So our first show after 250+ hours of practice.
Wish us luck.

Braid and Bionic Commando: Rearmed

So yesterday I bought Braid and played it all the way through in one sitting.  I thought it was a really great game with fascinating puzzles.  I really had to think about a lot of them.  The puzzles were very satisfying when you figured them out.  I thought the story went along well with it too.  No spoilers but the last level of the game was pretty emotional.  At least I thought so.  So I've had a lot of fun with that.

Bionic Commando: Rearmed has also been very fun.  I bought that today and I've been playing that co-op the whole way through with my brother.  I think we've cleared maybe a third of the game.  I'm not sure, but we've both been having a lot of fun with that.  I never played the original Bionic Commando so I can't say how good of a remake it is, but so far I think it's a good game even without the nostalgia.

That's pretty much it this week other than GeoWars 2 and the occasional STALKER.  I've also been playing some Animal Crossing: Wild World and Space Invaders Extreme on the bus rides back home from school.  Being the last one on the bus my friends get off some where around the middle of the trip so I have about 10-15mins to entertain myself.

So that's all I've been up to though I think.  Just working on homework stuff too.  I really need to finish my comparative essay on early Egypt and Mesopotamia.  I keep on putting that off.

Well anyway I guess I'll get to work on that now.

Geometry Wars 2

so I bought it today, I just couldn't resist
It's been really fun. I've tried out all the modes.  I'm not going to pick a favorite mode yet but I'm enjoying the pacifism mode.  I actually got both the wax on and wax off achievement today.  That was pretty difficult, but well worth it.
Anyway I'm really enjoying the game.
Btw this may be my last post for awhile with school coming up and all, but I'm not sure.  I'll try to keep my blog updated at least once a week if anything eventful has happened.
Welp, off to school tomorrow.  Wish me luck.

Finally

I've finished my summer work.  Too bad school is in less than 2 days.  Oh well.  I've decided I'm not cutting games out of my schedule, just not playing as much of them.  I've canceled my gamfly account until I adjust to the school schedule, but I'll still be gaming.  This and next year are going to be great years to be a gamer.  I can't wait for all the amazing stuff that's coming out.

I haven't been playing anything new this week.  Just S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which I completed again this time getting the "real" ending (and I have to say it was much more satisfying and answered a lot of questions), and I've been playing Diablo II with my brother (we're on act 3 now), and I've been dabbling around in some other stuff.  I played the Geometry Wars 2 trial, the Braid trial, and a free game I found in PC Gamer's 365 free games list called Face Wound and It's actually been very fun although it is quite buggy.  Geometry Wars 2 was pretty awesome.  I'm considering purchasing it, and Braid seemed very interesting.  I don't think I plan on buying it though, but the game seems really cool.

So I'll end this post with a list of games I'm looking forward to this and early next year.  Please add on games I may have forgotten or games you're excited about in comments.

  • Left 4 Dead
  • RE5
  • Fallout 3
  • World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
  • Diablo 3
  • Spore
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
  • Half-life 2: Episode 3
  • Portal 2
  • Rock Band 2
  • Dead Space
  • Mercenaries 2
  • Crysis: Warhead

EDIT: added rock band 2, dead space, mercenaries 2, and crysis: warhead

Got My Xbox Back

So yeah my xbox was finally returned to me today.  I plugged it in and checked out the too human demo, which I was not too impressed with, and also tried out Geometry Wars 2 which was really fun.  All I've been playing this week is STALKER, with the oblivion lost mod, and Diablo 2 with my brother.  It's been pretty fun.  I've really enjoyed STALKER.  I'm definitely putting it up there with the top 10  best games I've ever played.  I've just had a lot of fun with it.  Even with its problems it's still amazing.  I can't wait for Clear Sky.  Well that 's all for now.  I've been putting off the English section of my summer work so I should probably get to work on that.  School starts for me in 4 days, ahh!

Back From Camp, Gone from Games (temporarily)

So I've returned to band camp and it was pretty much horrible.  I figured out a friend of mine is going out with the girl I like and have made very clear that I like and planned to ask out soon and that pissed me off, but no big deal because she's his first girlfriend and he has no idea what he's doing.  I think they may have already broken up from what I've heard so no problem just pissed me off.  Oh and something I forgot to mention where the camp was.  It was at JSU in Alabama.  They had decent rooms.  Occasionally good food, for the one time I had ice cream I threw up during sectionals.  Not in front of everyone though.  I just set down my instrument walked out, while receiving strange looks from my section and the instructor, and threw up in a toilet came back in and started playing again.  But I'll say again, camp sucked.  Go to sleep at 12am wake up 5:45am, Marching almost 10hrs a day, not including the 1-2 mile march to our field (aka parking lot) in 90+ degree weather, we even marched in rain and during a severe thunderstrom (at least until the sirens started going off).  Anyway I, and many others had many blisters all over our feet.  I was one of the ones who thought the band were crazy for complaing because I was a football player last year, starting nose guard, and I was sure what they were doing couldn't be as hard as what the football team was doing.  I was kind of right, but they were doing a hell of a lot more than I thought.  We accomplished a lot of our show, even though our director works extremely slow, we got through most of the 1st movement.  And today we performed what we know of the show in front of a crowd.

Anyway about temporarily quitting games.  The only reason is is that I have no time.  I really need to focus on other stuff at the moment so I'm going to have to stop gaming as much as usual for awhile.  I'll be back though.

First Blog Post

So guys this is my first real blog post.  So far the site looks pretty cool.  Although it is a little hard to navigate and has occasional slow load times I'm still enjoying being part of something new.
I don't have much to say right now.  E3 was cool although the press conferences weren't to good there were some good games there.  I have a new interest in Dead Space after checking that out.  And RE5 looks like it has the same gameplay as RE4 but with coop which is awesome because I loved RE4 so much and just wanted more so I'm really excited about killing a bunch of zombies together with friends.  Speaking of killing zombies with friends Left 4 Dead still looks awesome.  I really cannot wait for that game it looks amazing.  But that's all for now.  I haven't been playing as much stuff or reading news about new stuff because I've had marching band practice all week and this will not stop til the end of the season so I'll be cutting back on gaming some sadly not including all that extra homework from AP classes ugh.  Not fun.  Well I'll leave you with my now playing list and games I'm hyped about.

Now Playing:

(no xbox games because I got the red ring of death but I've already registered it for repair so should get a new one in a moth maybe or hopefully sooner)

Company of Heroes

Super Hyped:

Left 4 Dead
Resident Evil 5
Dawn of War 2
Fallout 3

Fat Princess

Somewhat Hyped:

Fable 2
Dead Space
Final Fantasy XIII
Castle Crashers ( any news of a release date?)

Bumbed About:

Nintendo's continued direction toward the casual market.  I want to love Nintendo but I'm really starting to create a hate for them.  They have a lot of cool stuff and I really like the DS but I don't like the direction they're going.  I hate walking into a gamestop and looking at a Wii or DS shelf and seeing it filled with crappy games I've never heard of.  Like Game Party or Game Party 2 or Imagine babies or all that crap.  I'm really starting to hate it.

Microsoft Avatars - Anyone else hate this idea?
