Whoa, wasn't expecting to hear "Deep Six" in the menu music. Well done, music curator guy/lady person.
Edit: Huh. Think I'm actually going to buy this at some point. Enough Attitude Era stuff to keep me interested, without just being '13 again. Just hope that four-man TLC matches still become beautiful broken chaos as the physics and AI freak out.
Holy shit, they're actually doing it. Oh, man. I hope they play the whole thing.
I always thought it was a crime that Vinny never got around to Phantasmagoria 2, but it hits me now that the universe was simply waiting for the GBEast Dream Team to form and give this beautiful, terrible sucker the razzing it deserves.
@decaped: They're "on" and knowingly entertaining an audience on top of doing the normal joking and ragging that friends do. Given that temptation to amplify and exaggerate for comedic value (something all three of them are quite good at), "you're terrible" is the lightest jab imaginable.
I've called my friends worse (and vice versa) in similar conversations, and no, there doesn't need to be a reason besides making each other laugh. There really doesn't need to be any subtext here.
But either way, debating a friendly throwaway insult between three people who we don't actually know for far longer than any of them likely thought about it (approximately 0.2 seconds, is my guess) is starting to reach creeper territory at an uncomfortable pace, so...
I'm sure Detroit will disappoint in a lot of ways, because Quantic Dream. But dammit, I am all on-board for it... because Quantic Dream. I simultaneously love and hate their games.
And, to be honest, I'm partially being suckered in by my love of dystopian future cities, and that is a gorgeous one.
Edit: Man... shame to hear that it's not as effective as Fatal Frames past. Still, I'd be all over this if I had a Wii U. Also, "Ren Hojo" is a fucking amazing name, and now I want to have my name legally changed to that.
So, what does that mean? Because I tried jumping into the series when the second came out for Wii in 2012 and found the original PS2 game to be completely boring. Granted I played it with a friend but we did only play at night with lights turned off and trying to take it seriously. The pacing was just too slow and the enemies not threatening enough.
It might just not be your thing, but try Fatal Frame 2. It's the high point of the franchise for most folks.
But yeah, they are definitely slow games, even by survival horror standards. If you don't find the "combat" system fun or the ghosts unnerving, there's no shame in writing off the franchise. I love it, but I can't deny that there's a reason it was always more niche than Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
